I watched MattK's tutorial on making a slide show in version 5. It looks like you can now burn to DVD for t.v. Am I dreaming?
I have yet to actually try it, but I cannot wait. It also has "pan & zoom" ability.

I still have Photoshop Elements 3.0 and Premiere Elements 2.0, but I have been doing a lot of reading on the upgrades to keep up. I have not seen Matt K's video that you mentioned. It sounds like there is a misunderstanding somewhere in distinguishing between a file burned to DVD (not playable on TV/DVD) and a file burned to a DVD-VIDEO (MPEG2) format on a DVD (playable on the TV/DVD).
From what I can determine, Photoshop Elements 5.0, like Photoshop Elements 3.0, will let you burn to CD and DVD (that I found listed as a feature for backup). Neat part about it is that 5.0, unlike 3.0, now supports multisessions. The BIG HOWEVER is that you still need Premiere Elements (or something like it) to burn to DVD-VIDEO (MPEG2) which is playable on TV/DVD player. I am pretty sure that you can still create a VCD with just the Photoshop Elements 5.0 program (that VCD will be playable on TV/DVD player provided the player supports VCD...some do not).
Whenever you burn to DVD in Photoshop Elements, all you will end up with is a file burned to DVD, not a DVD-VIDEO for TV viewing.
My info here has been gained from reading, not hands on, so check it out. I will watch as the details unfold.

Bummer. You must be right. Why would Adobe want to dilute the market for Premier?
I have a digital video editing program that I love, but I thought it would be so much simpler to be able to go straight to a slide show from within PSE5 for the smaller stuff. Oh well.
Thanks for answering this thread!
