Just wondering where you are getting your PSE5. I tried Amazon.ca for PSE5 and BB Missing Manual for v5. Neither are in stock. It is not in our Costco. Just wondering where you got it and what you paid in Cdn. Thanks anyone.
Shari
PS - Happy Thanksgiving everybody. Hope you all have the wonderfall fall weather we have here in Vancouver. Driving out to Abbotsford in a bit for dinner. Hope to get some nice fall shots!!!

Shari: I downloaded it from Adobe (their initial offer). I figured that was as good a price as any and didn't see any disadvantage in downloading instead of a boxed version (you can download again as often as you want if you need to). By the time you add in taxes in Canada I doubt you'll find it much cheaper - or maybe you lucky folk in BC don't pay tax :D

PS And a Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

Nope!. Software only has intellectual property value and there's no duty/tax on that. There may have been some tax added at the other end (State tax?) but it wasn't much compared with what we pay here. BTW I live close to the border and have never had an issue with duty/taxes buying software in the US and bringing back to Canada.
Actually the tax rules for purchased software are pretty vague and contradictory but I'm not going to open that can of worms  .

Storm,
If you have it shipped to Canada from the US there will be GST payable, but as Tony said, no duty.

Download sounds nice but sure not practical when your on dial up only:mad: As for finding it in the stores give it a month or so. Just in time for Xmas;)
Is the conversion of your catalog relay as simple as people are saying (i hope so) as I have some 10,500 photo's in my catalog, and I remember going from 2 to 4 it was not pleasant as i had to rebuild the whole thing:(

Nolan, make sure you do a reconnect in PSE 4.0 and then a File->Catalog->Recover before running PSE 5.0 on the catalog.

Hey Tony - At 69 US and adding exchange and GST (although a download should not have GST - my Pro-show did not) it is still about $50. cheaper than at London Drugs. My question would be - if I had a problem (God forbid) and lost everything on my computer would Adobe send me another copy? I asked on another thread about burning the download but I am not sure I understand. Maybe I should just go out and buy the thing at $150. Cdn but it seems like a waste when I could just get the upgrade.

Shari: When you get the download you'll get an account set up - log back into it at any time and you can download again. From their policy:
How long will my download be available? You may return to your Online Store account to resume a download, or re-download your products three years as of the day of purchase. If for some reason you are not able to access your account or are unable to find your previously purchased downloads, please contact customer service (http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_16717#cscontact).
So if you did lose it all you have to do is redownload it (just keep a printout of you're original order in your book so you have a record of your account ID and serial number)

Thanks Tony. I think I will do that - but now I see the trial version is here so maybe I should try that first. The funny thing is - today I was looking at my Photoshop Elements 3 book by Scott Kelby. There is sooo much in there that I didn't know. Now that I understand PSE3 it is so much easier to read the book. One of my problems is that when there is something new I can get - like the Wacom pen, new software, books etc. I try the easy stuff because I want to do it right away - and don't spend the time learning all the ins and outs properly. I just found Down and Dirty tricks and a couple more books at our local library. I am thinking maybe I should spend some time learning before I head into new waters - then again.....

Hi Shari ...
I think that most of us do that :D :D
... it really is worth getting out your books every now and then and browsing through because the longer you have Elements and the more the books start to make sense ..
