I am loading in all the PanosFX photo effects I had downloaded. I really like them and the way they load and work so easily.

I am putting them in...and this is testing my memory recal l;)
C/Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data/Adobe/Photoshop Elements/5.0/Photo Creations/special effects/photo effects/

However, in the thumbnails, ..the thumbnails are showing up in the editor but each thumbnail has an extra little gray window for another thumbnail and it is empty but named the same as the one with the thumbnail?

I put all those that did not come in a folder in the folder I named PanosFX. All the ones that have a folder are in their own folder not the PanosFX folder.

Does anyone know why I have 2 of each thumbnail and one of those is a gray blank?

you can only have one "thumbs.psd" file. All thumbnails must be in the same file, with the layers ordered alphabetically, descending - and the .psd must be named "thumbs.psd"

the "gray blank" is the link to the action itself. All psd files in that folder not named "thumbs.psd" will show up as a graphic, and when clicked, will be inserted into your image as a graphic.

You can delete all .psd files from the folder and run the actions without a thumbnail - they'll work just fine. The thumb is for lower versions, and really just for aesthetics in 5.0.

I like the thumbnails, they help me visualize.
The puzzels folder has several thumbnails and they all show up.

But what you are saying is, when I go to use the action I should click on the empty little gray window?

Hi Sheila ...

Yes you just open an image and then double click on the little grey window :)

As Grafi said the thumbs are for lower versions not for PSE5.

All other versions of Elements needed a little icon thumbnail to act like a start button for the actions ... Adobe made some changes in PSE5 and it means that you no longer need to create an icon to act as a "start button" it already has its own (the little grey window). It may not look as pretty but its a lot simpler :)
