I've seen many interesting creations in galleries of stained glass with a subject in the center ( not glass ). Is there a thread or tutorial on this? The Techniques article with the butterfly doesn't seem much like the stuff I've been seeing.

They start with simple ones but they are text only. The only one with screen prints is the last one. I think that one's easier to understand.

Just down loaded 11 pages of your tut on stained glass. Thanks so much. I will learn how to do it if it takes months!! I'm thinking of Xmas cards. Fairly Newbie--- Billand cat

Hi John ...

Although I do have a technique for making stained glass as you can see from the example in my Gallery ... but I haven't yet got round to writing a tutorial on it :)

Maybe I will get around to it on of these days ... :)

Help! I'm just not getting this stained glass effect right. I'm following the tut - I have from bottom: background, glass, stroke, portrait. Went to glass layer and did distort/glass filter, etc.

Then on that glasslayer, I made a rectangular marquee shape, then did a ctrol J to duplicate and then stroked on that layer. I don't think this can be right because when I get to the end and want to select different selections to change the colors and I use the magic wand, it selects the whole image. From the directions, it seemed like I should go back to that one stroke layer every time I was stroking, but I don't think that works either.

After downloading the tut. on stained glass I find, that even how well it is done, I still can't fathom it. I am not saying I'm stupid, just I haven't been in this great program long enough. Is there a tut. on stained glass that will take me by the hand and lead me step by step? I thought I could figure all the steps out by myself but I guess not. I get to where you make selections for a pattern and then I get lost. Billandcat

If the 4th one is too complicated to start with, try the first one. It's really very simple even though it's text only.

Hey Billandcat, I got through the tutorial on stained glass, I just didn't like the way my picture looked when I finished it. After trying for 3 hrs I just trashed it. Maybe I will try again, but I don't think so. Maybe Wendy will do a tutorial for us.

Hang in there, Jo's tutorials are great.
Now some adjustments have to be made because not all pictures will fit the stained glass format.
One "new" thing I added to one today was once I stroked with the magic wand all the sections to be the same color. I placed those on to another layer~easier to go back and re-adjust the colors.

Shall put the new one on.
I'll go get it and make a new post.
