I have been a "lurker" for a couple months now, trying to soak up as much as I can, Its hard. You seem to know an awful lot. You also dont seem to mind answering "newbies" questions.
So here goes.... Im trying to make this newspaper for my moms wedding gift..http://www.good-tutorials.com/track/9257. I am having trouble inserting pictures. It's almost like I have to have everything spelled out for me Kelbystyle.
any help would not only be greatly appreacited but would also make this gift that much better. Thanks in advance.
Im sorry my first post had to be a help question

Hi Eric... welcome to the forums :)
Great to see that you've stopped lurking and joined us... :)
The url you posted asked for a username and password... can you post something that will show what you want to achieve?

Hi Eric,
... and welcome to the forum :)
Don't worry about your first post being a request for help ... first time I ever posted on a forum mine was a request for help too :)
Wow that is a big tutorial ... looks a good one though.
Lets start at the begining ... where about in the tutorial have you got stuck?

Eric,
I think that I have just worked out where you maybe stuck.
Step 18 it just says place the photo in the top column.
OK then:
Open up the image you want to add.
Select>All
Edit>Copy
Now open up your "Newspaper" image
Edit>Paste
The photo should now be in your Newspaper image
If the image is too big for the column then click on the move tool ... a bounding box will appear around the photo. Click in any corner of the bounding box and you will be able to change the size of the image.
You can also use the move tool to move the photo into place.
Let us know if that sorts out the problem and if you get stuck again just let us know. There is usually someone here who can talk you though the steps :)
It a complicated tutorial but it looks like it will make a nice gift :)

I knew you two would be able to help and such a fast reply thank you
One more thing if I may.. I got so flustered last night while trying it, so I thought I would skip that part and ran into another problem. around step 30 I think. It talks about opening the Bitmap I saved and draging it over to my new blank page, may I ask how.
Please tell me this gets easier thanks again

Eric,
It really will get easier ... :)
You chose quite a difficult tutorial in this one ... it seems to be written for fairly advanced users as it simply assumes the reader know what to do. But don't worry ... we will get there :)
Step 30 .. Open Bitmap and drag over to your new page. Well lets ignore that way og doing it and just do it the same way we got the photo into the Newspaper.
So open the bitmap
Select>All
Edit>Copy
Open the new image
Edit>Paste
That should do it :)

Eric
I does get easier..but then I am learning 3 step tutorials, not monster ones like yours
I think you will find that all of a sudden, one part of PE will click..maybe in your case adding images to a canvas.. there seems to be a lot of that in the tut you are working on.
Then something else will hit you, and so on and so on.
The nice part is, the people here are great. Everybody is more than willing to help if they can, and I have never felt like my questions were fluffed off for being to basic.
Keep at it,
Gary.

I think it looks ok, I thought It would be a little bolder or sharper. but not bad for a newbie huh. HA HA.
Just wanted to say thank you for all your help.

Hey Eric!
Can you stand some feedback from the "editor" in me? The newspaper should read "marries."
But hey, other than that, it looks fantastic!

Isn't it amazing what people can do?
We've stopped buying all of those fake magazine covers, newspapers, etc that you can get at the fairs and amusement parks. We just make our own! PE3 pays for itself. Of course you have to explain to your neighbors and friends why they never see you step out of the house any more...

Gosh Gary ...
... Is it really summer ... last time I looked out the window it was Christmas.
Now I can't go out for a while as I am going to try to do a newspaper ... after seeing Eric's I am going to have a hard job to make one as good as that.
