Template Trouble

I'm trying to recreate the scrapbook template with fotos (vol 3, #1, p 19). I've created the template, saved it (in psd format) and reopened it to place the fotos. I selected the layer and opened a foto, but that foto opens in its own layer, 'document,' and doesn't 'move' into the template with the move tool. How do I get the foto onto the template????

Hi Rosemary ...

You need to drag and drop the photo into your template ... so you need to be able to see both images on screen. Just do Window>Images>Cascade and then you will be able to open up both images and see them in your workspace.

Once you have done that ypou will be able to drag images from one to the other :)

Have you got your photos & your psd template either tiled or cascaded in your workspace? If not go to Window>Images>Tile (or Cascade) You should then be able to move the pictures into the template with the move tool.

Unfortunately, this scrapbook page made from moving fotos into determined shapes on a template may never be finished. With your help, I was able to move the fotos into the template, but then it seemed to me the foto would have to ALREADY be cropped to be the same SHAPE as the template to make it work. While the foto can be made smaller or larger, the shape can't be changed or cropped or whatever, to make it fit the predetermined shape in the template.

I do, however, appreciate the forum's help on moving the fotos.

Hi Rosemary ..

To do that ...

Open up the image you want to add and do Select>All then Edit>Copy.

Now open up your template image ... go to the layers palette and Control Click (Mac Command Click) on the template shape ... the marching ants will appear.

Create a new Layer Layer>New>Layer
then just do Edit>Paste Into Seelction.

Once you have done it you should be able to move the image arounf inside the selection by using the move tool.
