View Full Version : Cropping

Using an alternative product, the cropping area remained visible after I cropped and then used Control-Z to undo the cropping. This was particularly useful if, after looking at the cropped picture, I wanted to make slight adjustments to the cropped area. This feature seems to be unavailable in PSE4 (or if it is available I can't find it). With PSE4 I have to start over again, and hope that I can remember where the new cropping area needs to be positioned.

Is there a way around this?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Robert ...

... and welcome to the forum :)

Elements doesn't do this and the only workaround I can think of actually isn't very good ... saved the cropped version with another name, undo and then drap and drop the cropped version into your original version and use that as a guide. I'll see if I can think of anything else ... or maybe someone can come up with something :)

Hi Wendy

Thanks.

However, I think that the saved cropped version would be the same size as the complete original, so I would then need to resize that layer to fit the original before trying to recrop. It sounds a bit complicated, and I was hoping for an easy way out.

Thanks again.

Hi Robert ...

If you do your cropping with the resolution box left blank then the new image will actually be physically smaller.

Another thought ... when you pull out the crop area you can adjust the box at that stage ... just grab hold of the handles and change the sizing before you crop :). Afraid that I can't think of an easier way once you have actually done the crop ...
