picking layer with click....

Whenever I used to click on the picture it would activate the layer I was clicking (ie..if I clicked on text, it would highlight that layer in the layer pallette). I have somehow changed that and it won't do it anymore. I have to physically click the layer each time to make it active. Does anyone know how to change it back?

With the move tool active, check mark the "Auto Select Layers" option in the options bar.

For me the auto select can be a problem at times... always jumping layers when you don't want too.

There is a compromise… Uncheck “Auto Select Layer” …if the Move tool is selected just hold the Ctrl Key… or Command key and click on an object in your picture and the layer will be selected. If the move tool is not active just press “V” then Ctrl click.
