OK here is my problem, i noticed happening last week. I have PSE4. When I edit a picture say crop or color adjust, then try to save or save as the program totally kicks me out of the editor and i lose all of the files i had open in editor. It takes me back to the organizer.
Now, if i say make a new file.. photomerge or such then save it will let me? weird?
This just started happening recently. I am so frustrated and pulling my hair out. I thought maybe i don't have anymore memory space in PSE so i deleted a large amount of files(pictures) and still no luck.
Can someone please save me!!! no pun intended.. although a little humor never hurts.!! lol!
TIA,

I'm assuming you're working under windows. Have you tried to bypass the organizer and open, then save a photo directly with PE4? What are the specs of your PC, could be you're running out of resources. Any Error messages when you get kicked out?

Kate,
How many files did you have open? You may really just have run out of memory with too many open files... :)

You may want to reset preferences... I know it is a pain but often helps.
Also have you recently installed any programs? There are a few where their start-up programs interfere with Elements. If so you may want to temporarily disable them and see if that solves the problem.
If you have XP you can also try a restore point to go back when Elements was working.
Also be sure and try a total shut down and turn off… then restart and see if that helps.

It does sound like a memory problem from having too many files open. When you have a lot of files open and being worked on you might want to check Help>System Info and look at Free Memory and Scratch Volume Free. If the first is low then you're short of RAM, if the second is low then you're short of hard disk space. Deleting files will help fix the second but not the first.
Also check to see if your hard drive needs defragmenting - Elements needs a lot of unfragmented space to work with.

I have added a new program to my computer for homeschooling..it is a virtual classroom. i think that is the only thing.
as far as files open i have tried w/ 4 -6 and only one either way i am kicked out when saving.
I will check my memory.
Thank you all!! I GREATLY THANK YOU!
