View Full Version : Folded corners - Input wanted

I did another page based around the folded corners/custom shadows technique on the Scrappers Guide site. Originally I did it without any journalling but I think it looked too bare. Then I added text & finally text on an opaque white background. Then I couldn't decide which one I preferred!

I'd really like to know which one looks best? And does it need any other embellishments? I've made it to match the one of my younger granddaughter which is in my gallery.

Bayla,
I like the layout with the text on the opaque background. Although all three look very good.

Hi Bayla
I'd pick the backscreened one although all three are great.:)
One other thing to try, as an option to that one, would be to keep the backscreened area, but instead of making it opaque, desaturate the colours somewhat. I'm not sure if this would look any good, just something quick to try for a slightly different effect.
Mind you, that is why I rarely post images. I never seem to be done trying different things.:D

Thanks guys. That's the one I preferred. I put it in my Scrapper's Guide gallery and I'm going to put it in my gallery here as well.

PS.I tried your suggestion as well Gary....it didn't look right with this particular picture, but I'll bear it in mind for the future. Thanks!

Bayla they are all three nice and I too would have to say I like the backscreened one the best too. What a little beauty.

Backscreen for me too - just lower the opacity a tad.

Yes, backscreen for me too. Lovely work! It seems like quite a few of us here have been bitten by the SB bug! :D

Definitely the "vellum overlay effect". IMHO, additional embellishments would be too much. It's just right as is.

Bayla, I LOVE it, love it, love it! And this is not to take away from it, but . . . I think you left an "r" off of "your" (your aunties . . . ). I know you'll want it perfect.
I really love it, and if you don't mind, may "borrow" the layout idea for a future Clara page :)

Linda,

I can't believe it.....and I've gone & posted it without noticing it! Thanks you so much for pointing it out! You know me, the queen of perfection when it comes to spelling:) That's what comes of doing things at 3am!
Pauline,
I tried dropping the opacity as you suggested & preferred it. Thanks. The finished (& I hope perfect) product is now in my gallery.

Wendy,
Thanks.
I've tried a different layout. Not sure where to put the journalling though. And I think the gold brads need to be moved slightly.

Hi Bayla ...
Oh that is pretty too ... but I too am not sure where you could put the text
Maybe extend the canvas below the photo and put it below :)

Bayla, if I hadn't seen the first one, I'd say the second is perfect. But having seen the first, I still like it better. You really give us some high standards to aspire to! :)

I haven't tried this technique yet. The manual and video from Scrappers Guide are on my TODO list. What fun! This is a great layout! It would be wonderful printed and framed for a gift.
What about trying to put the text actually wrapping around the outside edges of the folded corners rather than in a paragraph style? Going diagonally...clear as mud?? Start at one point, moving to the other point. Oh, I think I am making my explanation worse. Sorry.
