I just downloaded the PSE 5 upgrade and have been playing with some of the themes. I had a picture of a desert tree that I took in Las Vegas earlier this year - got some interesting results with the themes. What do you think? (They're in my gallery.)

I was about to comment on them and saw this thread. I really like the main image. Very nice.

Thanks Nancy & Jodi ... I almost feel like I'm cheating! Other than adjusting the contrast, the only thing I did to the photo was apply the built-in backgrounds and frames. I think I'm going to like this new version!

That is so neat.
I've been reading about PSE5 and really want to see as much as possible. And do hope Santa is listening :)

Glenda,
The collage of the different cacti is great. And the background is perfect for it, too. Nice photos, nice presentation.

gcherry, Did you do the head shot, pop out of Rocky the beautiful kitty, in your pictures, did you do that in PE5?

Thanks, Carol ... I thought the cacti collage turned out kinda neat. And it only took a few minutes thanks to the new features in PSE 5!
Sheila ... the shot of Rocky (my beautiful new kitty!) was an accidental discovery. I have a "toolkit" of backgrounds from Digital Juice - each of the backgrounds contains numerous variations including a frame version. I simply put an extracted picture of Rocky over the frame and erased the parts of him that I wanted to appear to be behind the frame. I hope this explanation makes sense. If you want a more detailed explanation, let me know and I'll send you the PSD file with the layers so you can see how it was done.

Hi Glenda, very nice photos and I really like the effect you did w/PSE5. I really do love your new kitty and the his little face thru the frame.

gcherry,
This is off topic, but what kind of cat is Rocky?

Sheila - near as we can tell, Rocky's a tabby/Siamese mix. We adopted him from an animal rescue group. You can't tell from the photos, but Rocky is a polydactyl - he has extra toes on his front paws. That's how he got his name - his front paws reminded us of boxing gloves! He seems to have gotten the best from both breeds ... on the tabby side, he's very affectionate and is relatively soft-spoken ... on the Siamese side, he has the dark points (tail, ears and parts of his paws) and he has those gorgeous blue eyes. I know I'm biased, but I think he's quite handsome!
