What sort of package did you purchase? A kit, a twist over template, etc?

Hi Danielle ...
Just start a new image (a lot of people use 12 x 12 at 300 resolution)
Then decide how you want to layer your image (usually one or two papers in the background then photos and embellishments on top).
Open the kit and drag across a paper ... use the move tool to position is (and/or resize it)
Now maybe add another paper (in the same way) and move that so that it partially covers the previous one.
Add a photo or two and then some embellishments (using the same method) and again use the move tool to position and resize them ... :)

Hi Wendy,
I have a new blank sheet set up. Where do I go and get my pieces, do I have to drag and drop them into my edit page. and since they're on a transparent background, why can't I get them piled up on a page

Hi Danielle,
This used to confuse me at the beginning too. I'm using Elements 4 so I'm not sure if it works that way on 3 or below. Open up the pages you want to use - once you do this, you will see them all lined up in your photo bin at the bottom of the your program window. You will also see the blank page that you've created. Click on the picture or element you want to add to your blank page. This makes it the active window. Now use your move tool (the arrow). Click and hold on the picture you have active and drag it down to your blank page on your photo bin. Let go. This should create a new layer on top of your blank page. What used to confuse me was that I would drag from the photo bin to the image I had active and that didn't work. :-)

Hi Ludreana,
OK.. I have the images in my photo bin. (I created a new collection). And I created a new project that is 8X8. Every time I click on an image, it puts it into the main page but I can't seem to layer the images. I only get one. I tried to create a new layer and drag that image to the box but it's not working. Can you maybe step me through it? THANKS!

Danielle, in the upper right hand corner of PSE 4.0, you will see 4 little buttons.Click on the one that has the 4 little squares in it or the one with the overlapping squares and you should be able to drag and drop.

Hi Danielle,
Sorry it took so long to get back. I'm wondering, when you talk about the photo bin, are you maybe referring to the Organizer? You have to have all your images open in the Editor (Standard Edit). It sounds like you're dragging your pictures from the Organizer to the Editor. Once you have them all in the Editor, the photo bin is the area along the bottom of your editing window . This is where you drag your open picture. What Troush suggested might be easier - just tile the windows and drag from one to the other.

Danielle,
Once you have selected your papers and other things (they are just like photos) from the kit in the Organizer, they get opened in the editor. They will show up in teh bin at the bottom of the page. If you click on the top right of your screen on the button with 4 "windows" it will create/tile all the open files in their own window. This will allow to click and drag onto your open page that you created.
It takes longer, but you can use the move tool to copy and paste onto the open page you created.
Have you done any tutorials that are on other sites? They can be very helpful. The tutorials here are great, too. I will also suggest the video tutorials at Scrapper's Guide.com. I also learned about layers by following directions in Scott Kelby's book, PSE for Photographers. He doesn't talk about scrapbooking, but the book is easy to follow and I learned some great tricks for my photos.
