Hi,

Just did this on my laptop. The color and tone adjustments are hard to guage.
I removed the sky from the original photo and replaced. Then added reflections/shadows to the lake. Then changed perspective (flipped) and then applied oil painting effects and gaus. blur. Any suggestions that might improve it would be welcome.

Jack, I agree with Pauline. I like the way the clouds reflect in the water.

Great look there Jack, I love the sky in that one. Maybe a bit of a canvas texture would look good with a more painterly feel.

Hello,
Pauline, Kim, Kimh and Kimi, Terry, and Tina...thanks for the positive encouragement. Your galleries and challange entries provide inspiration for an E 4.0 beginner.

Terry- I had some canvas in there and lost it with the blur. I'll go back this evening and re-apply it. BTW I have the following saved in my favorites. It is the inspiration of my painting effects. I find this work fascinating. If you get a moment, let me know how it was done or if there is a thread..point the way, please. I haven't been able to get that look.

Hi Jack, I do love how that one turned out. I explained it a bit in this thread
http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13821
scroll down to message #11. I think the noise reduction and shadow highlights were they key and matching the tone of thehouse to the sunset. The mr. contrast layer was set to a blend mode( soft light I think, I usually try them all). Remember when adding texture, it should be the last thing you do. Blurring or sharpening will take away from the effect. I usually add the texture to a duplicate layer and play around with the opacity also. Hope that helps, just ask if you need some help.

Terry,

Thanks for the link to the thread. Sounds like my methods are much the same as some of yours......just start playing around and see what happens. Thanks
