This is a work in progress and my very first attempt at a digital scrapbook page. Never done anything like this before. I would like an honest criticism of what I have done so far - feel free to comment on anything - layout, font, everything.

Oh, Bayla, I love it!!!!! Now, I am not a scrapbooker, but I really love it! I think you have done a fabulous job on it!!! Did you know that Bradley Beach is the town right next to where Kellys reception was??? The pictures I have of her on the beach were taken basically, on the same beach as your pics.
I think it is wonderful, and I love the font. What is it?
I just posted a somewhat scrapbook page in my football pics thread in the gallery section.....take a look at that and let me know what you think, too, ok????
Oh, I love the starfish....where did you find that?????????????????
Really nice job Bayla.....did I tell you I love it?!?!?

Bayla it's terrific. There is only one thing that I would change. The ! mark beside the word GO is too close and makes it look like GA. Just put a space in there. That's the only thing I would change!

I just went back and looked too, you are absolutely right. I had thought of maybe adding a drop shadow to the lettering, Bayla, but I am not sure that you could improve on the image as it is. IT LOOKS GREAT!!!

This is what I get when asked "Mom is it ok if we get dirty?" It's rained a few days here...hard to keep from getting dirty when outside. So when I say "YEAH" next time, I think I will think twice first....lol.

Bayla - Looks good to me! I really like the placement of the three pics. As others have said, I had a little touble reading the GO!!, too. A space will take care of that & the only other thing I noticed was the date of 10/08/06 - should it be 9/08/06 since we are not in October? (or at least I'm not  )

I like the way you used a shot of the beach sand as your background.

Tina that's priceless!! Love the orange background too. A nice choice. (of course orange and purple are my favourite colours)

Dear Everybody,
Thank you so much for all you wonderful comments! I couldn't believe it when I just logged on and read them all. I'll change the spacing as suggested in a minute, I just wanted to reply first.
I think I want to change the wording also so that I'm not using 'rolled' twice.
The font is LibbyScript2 - I downloaded from somewhere!
The sand background was a freebie downloaded from one of the scrapbooking sites.
The date is the British way of writing - 10/08/06 is 10th August. (Gets confusing, for us 9/11 is 9th November!)
I have to say a big thank you especially to Tina who provided me with loads of info about digital scrapbooking and got me started on the whole idea with her inspiring pages!

Tina,
That picture of yours merited a separate reply!
Now everyone can see what I mean when I say how inspiring your work is. I always love seeing your gallery - your use of colour is perfect, and your ideas are amazing!
Thanks! :)

I found a link for the font. And nabbing it up fast...lol.
Sorry had to do that before I forgot.

WOW I don't know what to say. You have totally made my day, heck my year. Thanks so much for the kind words. I am speechless!!!! I never knew that I would like this scrapbooking thing like I do. And hearing things like that make it worth every minute spent working on them. My kids love looking at them. I love the fun pages of the silly things hearing them sit and giggle about them later is just priceless. I hope it will be something they enjoy when they get older. I have been getting them printed but there are a few that I haven't and I keep them all in a folder and they love for me to open it and put it on the slideshow and they will just sit and watch it over and over.
Thanks again for the really kind words.

The more I get into scrapping the more frequently I make a point to take photos that I can use as backgrounds or embellishments. Sometimes hubby accuses me of thinking in "pages" when I'm photographing events. :)

Colleen,
Sorry, I just realised that I didn't reply to your post. Just went and looked at your football page. Love the way you have tied in the background & font colour with the team colours.
I did realise that Bradley Beach was nearby to where you held the wedding - I remember driving through Asbury Park en route from Lakewood. We went at about 5 pm and it was completely deserted. Actually there's a story there as well. The kids all climbed up onto the lifeguards high chair for me take a picture & they changed my eldest granddaughter into her beach shoes up there. It wasn't until we got back home that we realised we had left her shoes there.....so my dh & I drove back to the beach by which time the lifeguard's chair was in a foot of sea water & it was getting dark....my dh had to wade out & climb up to get them, dedicated grandfather that he is.

PS. After having trawled various sites & not finding a starfish that I liked, I used the one that was on the download from the Layers course. I had to clone some bits in as it was tucked away in the corner and was missing the ends of the 'fingers'

Funny thing is that I've been going around taking pictures of skies for replacing backgrounds but it never occurred to me until today to look at my feet and photograph the beach! Thanks for yet another tip.

Bayla, I love the layout of your page! The sand made a perfect background. (I went to the Outer Banks last week and took several pictures of the sand and rocks and sky to use as backgrounds!)
Tina, The orange really makes your page stand out. And the mud looks like great fun:)

Kim, Laura,
Thanks. I've tweaked it a bit and am now going to put it in my gallery. My son thinks it's brilliant but is mortified that everyone is going to see him in a pair of swimming trunks.....but I did point out that you can't see his face.:)

Bayla- You already got great feedback, but I wanted to add my own. Nice page! I like the pages that don't have so much stuff on them and tell the story- yours does exactly that. One other thing you could consider is warping the words (maybe just the ready steady go parts) and use the wave warps. I would have to try it to see how it looks, but it might add to your beach picture.
Again, nice job, and I'm glad you shared!
P.S. Tina inspires me too!

I agree. The page is perfect. It doesn't overdo it with too much clutter and it tells the story beautifully. Very nice job!
