View Full Version : My New Illusion

I wanted to explain this one. It's actually part of my homework for the collage course but I was thinking ahead - like Dave showed us in the plan ahead tut. I took a soccer ball with me to the shoot and had them hold the ball. Once I was focused I had my sister remove the ball quickly and shot the picture. Both of the couple's are cutout of a tree lined background. I made the background and then used Wendy's tut to make the globe. I wanted a "glow" to it so I did a stroke outline on a new layer and then used gaussian blur and erased the fingers so it appeared as if they were holding the globe. I had the text on it "What Does the Future Hold" and then tried "A Look Into the Future" and neither really impressed me so I erased it. I still may do a tad more editing but maybe I should leave well enough alone.

That's wonderful Nancy. You have created something quite special.

Have I missed something with my Collage class homework? My Pizzazz homework includes the use of orbs.

Nancy what a neat idea!! It's funny how PSE has changed the way we also take photos! At my niece's wedding I was taking pictures with collages in mind also.

Thank you so much everyone. I'm thrilled it worked. Pauline - I was trying to come up with something different to do for them and all I could remember was Dave saying to "think ahead" and it just stuck. so when I saw the soccer ball on the way out of the door - BINGO - the idea struck. Scary isn't it how Dave sticks in our brains....:p :D

Robyn - no nothing in there about orbs but wait till I count up the layers. ;) Sara wanted lots of layers and this has blends, selections, and more.

Nancy - Great job!!! I, too, think it looks great just the way it is, but if you do make changes we will probably all be back saying "we love it!" :D

Isn't it great when once in a while a brain storm hits!! In my case I wish it happened more often. I was on a roll yesterday and seem to be rolling backwards today!!

I think I'm just getting sick of looking at these wedding pictures I'm working on! I've told myself that once I get the card finished, I'm done. If any inspiration hits between then and when I deliver the gift then it's gravy.

Nancy I must confess that I stole your Mother's day card idea to make the wedding card for my niece. Thanks! The brain isn't functioning too well these days, but it's not too difficult to copy. :D

That is a great idea and job, Nancy. Very sweet. I must say, that idea opens up a lot of possibilities, doesn't it...

Is sure does Mike. I have about 3 different ideas using that same pose so we'll see how they turn out.

Pauline - no problem at all. Actually I made the card for Wendy as a thank you for something she helped me out with and then converted it to a mother's day card when I ran short of time to make one.

Sherry.:D :D

Here's the original blooper. I pushed too far when trying to pre-focus before my sister grabbed the ball. The look on my nieces face was too funny - "I can't believe I'm looking at a soccer ball with this dress on" Lucily I got 3 shots before she bust out laughing.

Nancy! This is terrific- I love it when you get these creative streaks (but somehow they last a realllly long time for you!) Thanks for sharing, it's great to see something someone created from scratch- from planning out the photo shoot to taking the photo, and then making a collage using so many different techniques. I think that's what PSE (and this forum) is all about. You really take the tuts and lessons to the next level!

Thanks Mel, Cathy and Kay.
My sister called me this evening and said Trisha put it on her My Space page and now about 40 kids so far want to know how they can get one. Hmmm.... maybe I see a special effects booth for next years homecoming.;)
