I added a new photo to my gallery that shows a before and after. I didn't rewatch the turtorials so I may have deviated a bit. I'd like to know what you think. Honest opinions, too much, too little about right or a certain area not look right. My daughter isn't the easiest to photograph, she always wants to be dead on to the camera but I did like this photo, not posed with a fake smile.

I should ask, can you tell which tutorials I used?

I like the way you lightened the shadows in her face, Lynn, but maybe a little more work around the eyes (video) would be nice.

Can you be more specific? I used the eyes video to light the whites and I realize that I missed the unsharp mask on the irises. If that is what you meant, I will go back and fix that tonight. I did lighten and increase the staturation a bt because her eyes were in too much shadow.
The hard part was to reduce the dark shadows under the eyes without loosing the over all natural look shadows on the face. I created a screened layer and the erased away what I didn't want with a reduced oppacity and soft edge brush. I could have done the same thing with a layer mask which I used to highlight the right side of her face to look like the lighting came in higher up than it did. There seems to be multiple approaches to every problem that yield similar results.

 The whiten-the-eyes video was what I was thinking about -- I should clean my glasses. ;)
