New photobook size at VioVio

VioVio.com just introduced a new 8.5" x 8.5" square photobook option available in both hard and soft covers. I have ordered their 9x7 softcovers and have had good results.

Since it is a square format there shouldn't be any problems with downsizing a 12x12 layout right?

I haven't been able to find out the pricing for it yet - but imagine it will be simialr to their other books - softcovers start at a base price $4.99 and then it is .25 a page. So a 20 page book would be $9.99.

Thanks for the info... I've been looking for a place to print photobooks. I'm planning on doing books for the grandmas this year for Christmas. I had looked at viovio but was disappointed that they didn't offer a square size... I'll have to take another look!!

Apparently the new size was just added this past weekend - so it isn't in their list of offerings yet. But I looked and it is an option on the page for ordering your book size. And if you have any questions you can email their customer serivce - they are pretty quick on the response and seem to genuinely want you to have a great book and great service.

I made three books with them for father's day - all three with the same pictures, but different titles. The spine printing (which was microscopic given my book size) ended up being the same on all of them. They offered to reprint the books or to credit me for the full amount. Since the books went to the kids grandpa's - I wasn't too concerned about it, they probably won't ever notice there is even printing on the spine. :D

I just recieved notice that Shutterfly is now offering square format books in 8x8 and 12x12 sizes.

12x12 = introductory price is $54.99 for first 20 pages and $1.50 for each addtional page.

8x8 = introductory price is $29.99 for the first 20 pages and $1.00 for each addtional page.

I've never ordered anything from them - so I have no idea on quality.


Looks like the requests of digital scrappers are finally being heard.:)

Jane, greetings, I work for VioVio.com and saw this post and thought I would chim in. Yes, the 8.5x8.5 square photo book has the same pricing structure as our other photo books. The soft bound square book is $4.99 plus .25 per page and for the hardbound version just add $10.00 to the base price.

Thanks for the compliment on the 9x7.

As for going from 12x12 to 8.5x8.5 there should be no problem because you maintain the same aspect ratio of the image. For the 8.5x8.5 books we need a minimum of 24 pages to bind the book nicely :)
