I am just wondering if there is any way to cave the Tutorials to my hard drive so I don't have to be online to view them?

Thanks for your help.

Charles

Edit: cave it to my hard drive? What in the world does that mean!! good grief Charlie Brown, I meant to say "save it to my hard drive." Duh!!

Charles, I copy them and paste them into word. Only problem with the way I do it, is the pictures don't always go to so I save them and then insert them into the word doc. If there is another way I too would like to know. I know with some browser you can save to favorites or bookmarks and click to make available off line but mine doesn't do that.:(

Charles. I just opened Internet Explorer outside my DSL browser since it will let you make favorites available offline. I added a tut to the favorites and marked it available offline and disable my DSL connection and tried to open it but it didn't work. :(

Hopefully someone else will come along soon with a better idea. Sorry I was of no help.

Charles,

If you use Internet Explorer, you can make a copy of a web page (i.e. Tutorial) for off-line viewing by clicking File > Save As... and then setting the "Save as type" field to "Web Archive, Single file (*.mht)".

After you save it in a convenient spot on your hard drive, it will open with IE, complete with pictures and everything. You don't need to be connected to the internet to view it.

HTH,

Byron

Byron, thanks for the info. I tried it and it worked. My DSL browser doesn't give me the type in the save as window. Sure glad Explorer did. Now I can work on the tutorials as well as videos when I'm waiting for my sons football practice to end. :D

Thank you for this information. It will make it easier to use the tutorials when working on layouts without having to be connected to the internet at the same time. This forum is awesome.

I have opened the tuts on here.. then file, send, email. when the email pops up I save to my dvd-rw drive and then like when I was on vacation just insert my dvd disk and all are available. I open with my browser and they play fine.

I have been printing the tuts and saving them in a notebook, otherwise, I wouldn't be able to remember the steps to accomplish the technique...difficult enough when it is in front of me! I wish they had PDF to accompany the videos. It takes quite awhile to write the steps for recall purposes....probably why there aren't PDFs! I didn't realize that we could save the videos. Hopefully, they won't remove the ones in the Subscriber area due to the arrival of PSE5.

Oops, I went to edit something I said and I accidentally deleted it.

Wow, looking at this thread I would have to say Indiana and Michigan liked Byron's answer.

Dee, that is one way to save a Video tutorial, we wanted the text versions here. There is an easy way that you can download the videos to your hard drive so you don't have to make DVD's. This way you won't have to pack DVD's to take on vacation with you.

VIDEO – HOW TO SAVE
Download video to the end.
Start/Search/All files and folders
Down arrow next to More Advanced Options
Go to “Type of file” and click down arrow.
Select “Quick Time Move”
Make sure the first three “Search” boxes are checked
Hit Search
Windows will then find all of the quick time moves on your PC
Right Click on Video and select Copy
Open folder – My Documents/My Videos. Do not open Videos.
Paste.
The file will be pasted into the folder as a Quick Time Video.

Kim,

I found that in saving the videos, I have to occassionaly clear the Cache. To do that I use the windows tool Disk Cleanup (Windows XP) I don't remember what earlier versions of Windows used if it was the same program or not.

I LOVE this forum! :D :D

We had a discution about that,
http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10526&page=18

After selecting the menu (Thread Tools, Show Printable version...),
I selected the "Show 40 items each page" option.

On the page (link above) is also a CMD file that you can use to append all downloaded pages into only one page.

About the QuickTime Videos, it is better to create a FND file (or shortcat to a FND file) on your Desktop. See how (post numb 34):

Hi LDF ...

They haven't removed any Videos in the past so I really don't think that they will do now ... :)
