This is really frustrating...After burning some CD's and verifying them on another computer (they opened up fine), when I put them back into my cd drive on my computer, nothing happens. I had just previously burned them on the same exact drive and poof!! Any ideas?!! Thank you!!!

Can you verify other CD's on the drive that's not reading them? For example, can you stick in a pressed CD (like the Adobe Elements CD) and read it?

I just tried it Trish - Elements 3.0. Not reading anything. Maybe reinstall the driver? But if the cd reader/writer can't read cd's........? Download?

An obvious question, but have you done a cold boot (turn off PC, wait magical 30 seconds, turn on PC) since this problem started?

I put it through "reboot".....but I'll try again. One other tidbit. Just before all this started today, while trying to burn files to a cd (after burning @ 6) when the wizard asked to insert a cd, which I did, when I pressed the "next" button, nothing happened. The button depressed and came out again, but no action. It's been dead since.

The "cold boot" did the trick, Ward. This I'll remember to do again if there is another time. Many thanks. I'll try to burn some more cd's tonight and see how it does.

Thanks again.

It's amazing how often totally shutting down Windows will fix problems with that operating system.
