I'd love to see what everyone thought of as their "best"! We all struggled with this one and whatever the outcome, I'll bet there are tons of fun photos to share with each other as a result.

Here's mine:

Wendy,

That was taken on Memorial Day -- we live next to a man-made lake and that was a shot from outside our front door across the lake. I loved the reflections, too, and because it was Memorial Day, the flags really added color to it!

This is my entry. I've never done this before. Can I enter another picture. Did I do this right? I love contest, just don't know how this works. Are there any rules?

Hi Kathy,

The Challenge closed a little while ago ... this thread is just talking about the entries people sent in.

I expect that there will be another Challenge soon (well I do hope so) and the rules will be posted in the Subscribers area.

Your link didn't work so I have reposted it for you:

By the way who won the challenge this time around? Since the net was down and I didn't get called last Saturday I'm assuming it's not me.

I guess I'll have to wait until they are posted later today.

For what it's worth, here is the picture I submitted. The robin's nest was found in a flower pot that was sitting on our patio. I have some great shots of the actual birds after they hatched, but it was after the deadline.

Chris

I read a post on the Adobe forum, from someone who was at the summit when they called the winner. I think his name was Paul (isn't this how rumours start..lol).
Congrats to whomever it was. I'm just waiting for the posts so I can see everybodys pics.

Gary.

Gary,

Jan was hoping to get the entries up today ... but with all the problems there have been I don't think that any of us would mind waiting a little longer if need be.

Hi Folks,
They're working on the updates for the weekend right now. There were almost 50 entries to post, so you can imagine how long it's taking. But stand by.... it's on the way...

Thanks, I sort of figured everything would be behind schedule for a bit. No matter, I trust they will get things up as soon as they can.
I know everybody is chomping at the bit, but I would prefer to have a stable reload than have the site act up because they were try to go too fast.

Steve thanks for posting your picture of the robin's eggs. That's beautiful. I bet it was fun watching them hatch.

What did I do wrong when posting my picture? Thanks for fixing it for me.

How do I see the pictures that were in the challenge? Where is that posted?

So may good ones! I'm glad I didn't have to be a judge -- wouldn't be able to do it! But I have to say that Paul deserves #1. It was a gorgeous photo. Congrats, Paul. Looking forward to seeing it on the next cover.

Well it was worth the wait. Some fabulous pictures and all so different. I have to say that I was really taken with the second one "stairs in Rome" It was beautiful. (although I probably wouldn't think that if I lived at the top of them! )

Jodi, is that your son? He's adorable. Such beautiful eyes. (you didn't colour them did you??? )

Now it's on to the tutorial to see if I'm doing things right with my tablet!

Cathy,

Tansy is a born poser ... I got my first digital camera a day or so after we got her and I guess she has grown up with it. When I get the camera out she just sits there and lets me get up close, I have even taken some where I rested the camera on her tummy :)

Hope Luke is a good model too :)

This is a picture of the baby robins looking for food. I have pictures including video from egg to first flight on these babies. I have learned more about robins than I ever expected to know.

Steve. great picture of the baby robins. We end up with a nest or two every year, and this year it was on our garden hose which was hanging up under the deck. I managed to get one picture of the last robin before it flew away, and it stayed right there for me and wasn't the least bit afraid.

http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?pic=17DRCEQSGHepnyQSfVyzjMq6IgK5y

Now I see we have a new nest. This one is on the side of the ladder rungs which is hanging up under our deck!! I guess we can use the garden hose now, but we can't use the ladder.

Wendy, I actually took it about 3 weeks ago when we went out west for vacation. It is taken on Lake Powell in Page Arizona at a place called Wahweap. I titled my photo entry "Sunset at Wahweap" but only "Sunset" made it to the gallery. May have something to do with they know some places out there Indians want to give permission before photos aare used. This place was actually the marina for Lake Powell and there were no indications that permission was needed. Breathtaking place.

I was there photographing the sunset about 20 - 30 minutes. Got quite a few good shots this was my favorite.

Steve I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that watches birds. Those babies sure are ugly. But they do grow up to be pretty.

Pauline that was a great picture of that robin. Amazing that it stayed there while you took the picture.

Now to check out the pictures from the challenge!

Then take another look at me pictures to see how I measure up.

Hey Rosiegirl I see you are from Arizona. Spent some time out there in northwestern part of the state a couple of weeks ago. It's really beautiful and I got some great pictures. Matter of fact my challenge entry was from the Lake Powell area around Page.

Can't wait to make a return trip.

I have to admit......I was a sucker for the baby and the pooch in the window.

That one caused me to forget all of my stress from the day and made me smile really big

Thanks, Laura Dauterive, I needed that pick-me-up ;)

Fyi, the newspaper guy that night had him "re-create" my shot...

The challenge pictures were amazing!

I am really liking the layer mask effect. I took this squirrel and cardinal picture at Ft. Parker State Park (TX) and put the two pictures together

Cool pic of the squirrel & cardinal... I'm not much on football but I'm guessing you had to deal with underexposure and shadows when you photoshopped. Is that your son?

June 27th, 2005, 10:46 PM
If you like squirrels you'll love this shot. We caught him red handed or should I say red around the mouth.

No, not my son, but friend of my son. I guess I like just catching a spontaneous moment after victory. The original picture has lots of "flaws" especially since I didn't plan on taking it in the first place!

:D

I love those pictures of the squirrels and bird and more squirrels. They are known theives! But they always make me laugh. We used to have one in the back yard that would come down the tree just low enough to be out of the reach of the dog. If the dog didn't see him he would make a noise and shake his tail. I really think he was trying tease the dog. That picture of the who ever the rock star was was a great shot. The lighting was just right. In that environment that's difficult. I always enjoy this thread of the forums because people share their photos. I love to see other peoples works. Keeps me happy.
