The last couple of photos that I have tried to upload didn't work out too well. I changed the image size by setting the Pixels at 700 and less and then changed the dpi to 72. Is that right? Then when i did the Save to Web it made the picture very small or way too large. What am I doing wrong?

Caroleen, leave your photo at the size you created it and do save to web. It will probably give you a message the file is too big. Click ok any way it will still open. Then make your size changes after it is loaded, it will take a minute or two, after you put in the 700 at the widest point click ok.

Its because you set the size and then the dpi.
Always set the dpi first, and then set the size.
Another way is (as said by angelicKim) save for web.

Hi ...
I usually use Save for Web when I want to do this ... I did some instructions a while back so I'll copy them into this thread.
They should help :)
Resize using Save for Web:
Open your image then do File>Save for Web
When the Save for Web dialogue box come up there is a section over on the bottom right hand side where you can change the pixels size (see A) if you tick Constrain Proportions then you only need to change the longest side then just click on Apply. Next take a look at the new size (B) ... if it is still too big then use the quality slider (C) until the size is OK

Uploading to the Gallery you need longest side a max of 700 pixels and max file size 300K. For Pixentral I also use 700 pixels but drop the file size to maybe 150K. :)
