I have not posted in a while because I had a down time taking pics. Please give me your opinion on this as far as reflection.Would you select water and take blue out somehow or do you think it looks ok as it stands. Thanks

Littlefield, beautiful photo. In my opinion it kind of looks like the water was added, I think it is a little too bluish. But still an awesome photo

Thanks for kind words .The photo was taken without polarizer in sun so the blue is how the camera saw it. I guess I need to select the water and take blue out to make water seem like a polarizer was used.I guess PSE3 can do this right?

Thanks Wendy really you think it looks good with the blueish tint in water? If you wanted to take it out how would you do it?

Hi ...
You may have to experiment ... try selecting the blue then add a slight feather Select>Feather then copy it to its own layer Edit>Copy, Edit>Paste
Now try Hue and Saturation on it ...
or try desaturate and then use the colourise feature on H&S to match it to the rest of the water.
Do let us know how you go on :)

Hi ...
When you copy the blue to its own layer, duplicate the layer then click on the eyeball to hide the duplicate. That way you will have another copy to experiment with if things don't work out :)

Hi there…here is a way to try as well
If you are a Mac user substitute the Command key where I have used Control…Ctrl and Option where I use Alt
I used a photo filter to neutralize the blue tint in the water. Yellow is the opposite color of blue so any yellow photo filter would work.
I tried to refine the yellow color needed by using the eyedropper to select the darkest blue in the water. Then I filled a new blank layer with that color blue by pressing Alt+Backspace, and used Ctrl+I to invert the color. By inverting the color I get the exact opposite color. Opposite color when applied cancel each other out.
It looks like a dark mustard yellow color will be needed.By clicking on the foreground color swatch I opened the color picker. I made note of the RGB values, clicked ok, then Deleted the temporary color layer. You don't need it anymore. I could have just used this layer set to Hue blendmode and reduced opacity as needed but using the photo filter allows me to use the attached mask.
Now I have the color noted and written down so as in (A) in the example below I opened a photo Filter adjustment layer from the layer pallet option menu… the half-black/white circle.
I clicked on the color radio button, then clicked on the color square… that brings up the color picker (B). I entered the RGB values I had made note of….R 203, G 160, B 83 then clicked ok.
Then watching the blue water I increased the Density, by moving the density slider to the right, until the tint was reduced. Then I clicked ok.
Of course this applied the filter to the whole picture and you only want the water so CLICK on the adjustment layer mask (C). Now with the mask selected press Ctrl+I to fill the mask with black. This will hide the adjustment just made.
Now choose a medium sized soft brush set to white. When you paint over your blue water the filter is applied.
When you have all the water painted with the photo filter adjustment use the Opacity slider (D) to make any final adjustments needed.
I just happened to have CS2 open when I did this but all the instructions above are the same in Elements.
But just a final note you don’t need to go to all the trouble of selecting and inverting the color to get an exact opposite of the blue you can just use a yellow filter if you want. You just may have some slight tints either yellow or blue but it will still work.
I’ve found the biggest mistakes made when using this technique are;
Not clicking on the layer mask to activate it. You must have the mask active before using the white brush.
Not inverting the mask from black to white. Filling with black is like pulling the shade on the window on the adjustment just made. It hides it. The white you paint on reveals the yellow adjustment where you paint on the picture. Remember paint on the picture not the little mask icon.
The photo filter adjustment is hidden, you have clicked on the mask to activate it… but when you paint nothing happens. You are using a black brush. You must use white to reveal the adjustment.
You don’t know which photo filter to use. Choose any filter it does not make a difference because by clicking the ‘Color’ radio button you are then going to use a custom color. Then when you click on the color square the color picker comes up and any color you choose there will be used as a photo filter.

Hi Don
Yes I do like the blue in the water... but each to their own. I also like a lot of contrast... most people need to wear sunglasses looking at my pictures... :p
I spent a lot of time in NC… old Marine here
Hope it works for you. The procedure looks complicated but once you do it you will own it.
