Is there any way of using the 3-D effect (round shape) and fill with a color but keep the 3-D effect? Every time I try and fill the shape with a color it turns flat.

make the shape first, then run the filter on it.
Use the marquee tool to draw a circle, for instance, and fill the active selection with color. keep the selection active and run the filter -

I used my Elipital Marquee Tool to make a circle (on a separate layer), kept it active, then went to Filter, Render, 3-D. Had to use the Sphere Tool, but all it did was cover up my original circle. What did I do wrong. Even when I went back and tried to Fill the sphere with color it still made it look flat. :(

hmm.
What kind of effect are you wanting? If it's like a bubble or sphere over the top of an image, try this:

gradients will be your friend on this type of effect.
If it's something else, can you post an image of what your getting? I haven't had nearly enough coffee yet this morning, so everything's still a bit foggy....

Actually what I am trying to make is an easter egg, that actually looks like an egg with the rounded shape.

Hi Litespeed ...
Oh I know just what will help you .. :)
Go to the Subscriber Area>Scrapbooking section then scroll down to the bottom. Under Video tips you will see oen by Matt ... its called Easter Egg. It leads you through creating an Easter Egg and sounds to be just what you need.
Do let us know how you do on with it :)
