I recently asked for suggestions for fixing a splash of sunlight on a face to be able to create a portrait quality photo (or very close), I am now attaching a copy of the photo to help folks know what I am referring to - thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Tom ...

I just tried out the Shadows and Highlights on it (Enhance>Adjust Lighting>Shadows/Highlights) on it and it certainly does improve the image. Although I doubt that you will be able to improve it enough to create a portrait quality photo ...

I ran the Soften & Fade action effect on it, then flattened it, then duplicated the layer, changed it to Multiply mode and reduced the opacity for this result.

It's a very small picture to do much with, though - not enough detail comes through.

More steps are needed to either enhance of remove the light - which did you want to do, enhance it or remove it?

Hi Tom

There is info in the highlights but the picture is too small to bring that out. Instead I cloned the right side of nose and chin then blended.

I do believe on a photo with good resolution you can greatly improve the lighting but like Wendy I don't think it will ever make a great portrait.
