I took a walk with my 4 year old on Labor Day morning after the rain had finally stopped. I thought I would share some of the shots:
This first one is my favorite. Every spike in the flower had some dew:

This next one was cropped but nothing else:

This one reminds me of the bright Fall colors around the corner:

And finally one with just dew drops:

Hope you "dew" not mind them! Thanks for looking.

Marie,
I love the dew drops. Each picture is spectacular. You've inspired me to get out after the rain.

Marie- What great shots! Thanks for sharing; I think this is the only way I'm going to see morning dew; I'm definitely not a morning person.:o

Usually I am up so early I am alone here on the forum. But tonight I am wide awake? I have no idea why. Way more folks linger on this forum late than early, I think.
Thanks for your comments!

Marie, those are awesome photos! I've never managed to get morning dew pix. Well . . . perhaps there's a reason . . . living in New Mexico  Anyway, thank you for sharing yours. There's just so lovely.

Marie,
You definitely can do the dew.....:) Are those red and green berries deadly nightshade? Theey used to grow wild in vacant lots in my boyhood hometown
Chicago.

Marie;
Super shots, What lens do you use on your D50??
I to have a D50 but can't get in that close... Also did you use a tripod??
Thanks Tom:)

Thanks again everyone! Makes me smile for sure.
Tom: For this series of shots, I used the Nikkor 60 micro lens. Worth every cent I paid for it. I love it. Works magic. And it takes great portraits as well. And I hate tripods. I am with my kids too often to ever use them. If I go anywhere with my camera, I almost always have a 9 and 4 year old in tow.

Marie;
Thanks for getting back to me on the lens info.. I have been looking
at that lens for some time now and wondering if I could justify the
cost.... I think you just made a sale for Nikkor.
Thanks Tom:D

Tom:
There is a used one for sale right now on NikonCafe for $320. This is the starting price so you could likely get it for less (maybe offer $275?). Here is the post about it:
For sale: AF Micro Nikkor 60mm f/2.8D
After playing with this lens for a few weeks I have come to a conclusion:
1 - This lens is as fabulous as its well deserved reputation. Wonderful macro lens, while many also use it for people shots: it is as sharp and contrasty as it gets.
2 - I am totally fascinated with what you can do with this lens, BUT I feel no passion towards macro photography - that's just the way it is.
Soooo, It'll go...
It is a US version and is like new in every way (I did not post pictures, look at a new one at your Nikon dealer - it is the same).
Both caps, no box - $320. paypalled and shipped (regular mail in North America - shipping elsewhere extra).
If you are interested, I can tell you that the seller is trustworthy. He is a regular contributor at the Cafe. You may not be able to access the Cafe's "for sale" forum, but I could help you if you are interested. I buy all of my used equipment there. I save buckets.

Marie, Thanks for the info........My next project is to sell the idea and
the pressing need to my wife. Then I (we) can make the purchase..
If you are married and retired you know what I mean...
Thanks Tom:)

Marie, those are fabulous shots. I was at Ikea today and picked up some frames. Very reasonable. I would frame those shots.
Helen - I think you might be waiting a while for any rain. This stretch of weather has been too long for me. I am ready for a rainy day and a whole day working with PSE3. I seem to be able to justify the time more when it it raining.

Tom: I know exactly what you mean about the spousal unit.
Shari: Thanks so much. My brother and his wife bought 40 of the 4x6 frames at IKEA (for .50 each). I wonder what the heck they will do with 40 frames, but hey! They make great gifts with photos inside them.

Hi Marie,
I, along with all of the others, really love your shots. Could you tell me what kind of camera you used, and settings, and lens size etc? Do you have a separate macro lens?
I'm looking at DSLR's and haven't made up my mind. Any help you can provide will be welcome.

Hi Marie,
I too love your pictures. Could you tell me what type of camera you used? And othe details too - like settings, macro lens etc?
I'm looking at DSLR's right now - haven't made any decisions - so any input or advice will be welcome.
Thanks.

Hi Judy. I am flattered to pass along camera information. I am a HUGE fan of the Nikon D50 and almost every Nikon lens I have tried. So, I say buy the NIkon D50 and don't look back!
I used a 60 micro lens here. Specially designed by Nikon for macro shots. I generally use a large aperture setting for shots like these because I want to get enough detail that you can see the dew drops. To get the sun shining through the drops, use f/16, it works like a charm with matrix metering.
Let me know what you decide!

Marie - Fabulous shots!! I dream of taking pictures like that! I live for those kinds of opportunities.
Shari -- I have very mixed feelings about the weather. For the Pacific Northwest, we have been very fortunate to have the kind of weather we have had. And since I ride a motorcycle, you know that I'm loving this nice weather. Still, I am true to my surroundings and miss the rain and opportunities for morning dew pictures and the like. Not to mention the joy of sitting in my favorite chair, sipping the worlds best coffee (Starbucks), playing in PSE while the rain softly trickles outside my window. If I can't be on my motorcycle, or playing my drums, that's the next best thing.

WOW Marie those shots are fabulous!! My favourite is the second one. I'd definitely print and frame that and hang it on my wall if I were you :) ;)
Beautiful photography :)
