Dogs and Owners

This is more of an experiment than anything else, maybe it will tank but I thought I would give it a try. Some say dogs and owners resemble one another (that's good if you have a good looking dog but....) so as I was going through some pictures yesterday taken at a dog event it became clear to me that it can be obvious. Here is a picture of 8 people and 8 dogs. I'm wondering if someone removed from the event can identify the pairings? OK, one is a giveaway, some to me are obvious and a couple are a bit harder. On a seperate post I'll put out the correct pairings.

This is more of a test than anything. I see 1,4 and 8 as the obvious (Gary and Ellen, where these your guesses?), with 2 and 5 being reasonable answers based on certain characteristics I saw.
