Karen,
I agree with Robyn. Those backgrounds are beautiful!!! I'd love to know how you made them.
Just curious - was your plate originaly a background (that you orbed), or was it a picture? Either way, it's awsome!

Kim,
Pleased you like my orb and plate. The plate took a bit of fiddling to get right but I am quite happy with it for a first attempt.

Robyn and Gloria,
I got the original tutorial from www.seurer.net/crafts/PE_Classes/twirls.html (http://www.seurer.net/crafts/PE_Classes/twirls.html) and have just checked and it is still on-line. I have condensed the tutorial to the following:
TWIRLS
1 Create a new file 800 x 600 pixels; resolution 72; Color Mode RGB; Background Contents – Background color
2 “D” to make sure foreground colour is black & background is white
3 Filter > Render > Clouds
4 Filter > Pixelate > Mezzotint, take defaults
5 Filter > Blur > Radial Blur > method zoom > quality best
6 Crtl+J twice to duplicated the blurred layer twice (there are now three blurred layers)
7 Working on a blurred layer; Filter > Distort > Twirl > enter -180 degrees for the angle or move slider to left > OK
8 Change blend mode in layers palette to lighten
9 Repeat steps No.7 & 8 on each of the blurred layers, changing the degree of distortion
10 Working on the bottom blurred layer, click on the create Adjustment layer in the layers palette > Hue & Saturation > check colorize > move the sliders to create the colour/effect you want
11 While holding the Alt key down, slowly move the cursor between the twirl layer and the hue/saturation adjustment layer until the cursor changes and left click (the adjustment layer will move right)
12 Repeat step No.10 & 11 on all twirl layers
Hope that helps

Karen...........you are going to laugh at this.
I had a look at the link and thought this looks familiar. Sure enough.......sorted through my mountain of stuff and there it was.......printed out some time ago. I think Wendy originally gave me the link in answer to a question I asked her. That's the trouble with me......I like something, ask how to do it.......think I'll try that, and then promptly forget all about it!:o :o

Actually Robyn, I also printed it out ages ago but I have had a bit of a tidy up and found it again :D So I do believe you.
