Well, I just got back from a meeting with our district tech coordinator. It seems that she was offered a licensing deal she just couldn't pass up--from Corel for Paint Shop Pro X. I don't know the financial details, but apparently what Adobe could offer wasn't even close.

So, I will continue to have a copy of PSE 3 for every machine in my lab classroom, but no where else in the school (other classroom machines, the other labs, the library, etc.).

What I Would Like This To Mean:

Nothing. That I would continue to teach PSE 3.0 as part of my curriculum.

What It Will Probably Mean:

Because the only place to access PSE is my room, it's not going to be real practical to go into much depth with PSE. I'll probably have to start using PSP X as our main graphics editor, since it will be installed on every machine in our building. My PSE/CS2 use will become primarily for personal use rather than personal AND vocational.

I'm not concerned about the learning curve. I'm OK with stuff like that. It's the time issue. I have very little time for stuff that doesn't translate directly to my job. Will I have time to play with PSE/CS2 and learn new things just for fun, and for my own personal growth? We'll just have to wait and see....

As I said in the title, Sniff, Sigh...:(

Oh, Mike. That's a sad thing. Especially if it means we'll see less of you! Please try to find time to drop in and see us as often as time permits.

Aw, I'll still be around, Linda. You all are great! This is a great forum.

What it will probably do is limit the time I can devote to learning new PSE/CS2 stuff. At least temporarily. It sort of depends on how fast I can learn Paint Shop Pro. But hey, the best way to learn something is to teach it, right?

Kimi, I sent you a PM...

Oh Mike thats too bad, just when you got your CS2. On the bright side you'll learn a new program.

Bummer, Mike! I always looked forward to seeing your students' work and hearing your PSE perspective. I'm sure you already had PSE stuff you were planning to teach this year too...

That's such a shame. I know how much you enjoyed sharing your kids work and I really enjoyed seeing it. Hopefully you will still be able to share some with us.

Mike - That's too bad that Adobe is that far from being competitive. Guess they just don't need the business. Upside for you is that you get to learn another program.

Mike that is to bad. I to liked looking at your kid's work. I've had PSP sense it's share ware day's. Well it is a good program ,I've never been able to find a forum for it like this one for PSE. There are a lot of tutorials on the net for it. I've even used tutorials for elements in PSP. There are a lot of similarities between the two , but i will stay with PSE just because of this FORUM. People here are just great.

I think Corel give these great deals because they are really trying to get their product out there. It would be nice if they had more teaching resources out there for them though.
