I just descovered a neat place to get new fonts. I was reading a newsletter from Kim Komando. She put the site for Dafont (http://www.dafont.com/) Most of them are free of charge. Just start a new account,FREE, and start downloading.
the only thing I don't know is how do you put them in your font folder to be used in PSE?

Randy you can download them to your desktop and then move them into your font folder. They will show up in PSE automatically. :)

I have thousands of downloaded fonts and, of course, don't want to install them all. You can use them without installing them. I keep them in a separate folder and when I want to use one, just click on it to open it, restart Elements (or any program using fonts) and it will then show up in your list of fonts, as long as the font file remains open.

Diana,
That is a great explanation!! I knew that having too many fonts loaded would really slow down your computer and I have read about keeping them in another folder but I have never seen the explanation posted as to how to open them when you actually wanted to use them!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! :D :D :D

Accept my thanks too - I have embarked upon a hard drive organizing project and an elements organizing project. Elements seems to be bogging down lately so I think I have to move some stuff out!! I never knew how to put the fonts somewhere else. When you say you put them in another folder, do you mean another folder besides the windows font folder?

Yes, you can have font files in any folder. I have newly downloaded font files in a folder under My Documents simply called "New Fonts."
If you are going to move fonts out of the Windows font folder, you must be careful not to take out the original font files that came with Windows, just the ones you have added.
Also if you have used a font in a document, say in MS Word, and then saved the document, then move or delete that font, when you next open that document, since that font is no longer installed, another font usually will be substituted.
I just tested PSE. If you use a font, save the document as a PSD file and then delete or move the font, you get this message:
http://www.pixentral.com/hosted/1CuqeVeGKdiznCdgDO3fHS2seDJR4_thumb.jpg (http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1CuqeVeGKdiznCdgDO3fHS2seDJR4)
However, if you save the document with the font in another file format, such as JPG, it's not a problem since it is no longer a font, just a graphic image.
