I have put an image into my gallery of a local Hibbertia, common name Buttercup. I was going to put the original here but Pixentral is very slow at the moment, so will try again later.

Karen

PS, here is the original but no peeking until you have looked at my gallery!

Wendy,

Thankyou. The buttercups are one of the most brilliant yellows in the bush.

Hi Karen ...

The look slightly different to the Buttercups we have here in the UK

... I remember that as a child we used to hold them under each others chins and if you could see the yellow reflected then we said that it meant you liked butter :D :D

Karen,
beautiful!! Amazing that such a common flower is so beautiful. Do the kiddies in Oz do the test to see if they like butter? Oh, that shows my age!!
Kev:) :)

Oh, Kev, I can remember doing that too!

Karen:

Beautiful! I love the way you did the frame!

Your entire gallery is beautiful. I love "The Breakaways" (?) and the trees (Canada).

Wendy and Kev,

I have never heard of that one. So pleased you both liked it.

Colleen,

The Breakaways is a long way inland from Adelaide near Cooper Pedi (have written it the way it is pronounced) the opal mining town.

Yes the trees are in Canada at Shannon Falls.

Karen;

When I was a kid, you used to hold a buttercup under your chin. If the yellow reflected upward on you it meant that you liked butter. Is that the way you remember it Kev????

Also, thanks for the geography lesson.....I always loved maps and geography! My Dad spent a lot of time during WWII down in Adelaide...not sure why or what was going on there. He was also in Alice Spring(s). He just loved your country and the people. He always wanted to go back and visit a family there that was so kind to him during the war. They kept in touch for years after the war was over.

That's really pretty. I guess we'll look to you and Robyn to keep our spirits up with the long winter approaching here.:(

Hi Nancy..........

Time seems to speed by so quickly. It only seems like yesterday when I was looking enviously at the "Let's see your spring flowers" thread and you were all posting gorgeous flowers etc.

Talking of time flying by................I have one daughter who turns 41 tomorrow and the other daughter turns 39 on Sunday........which happens to be Father's Day here (she was actually born on Father's Day).............how old does that make me feel!!
