Hi ...
The Orb action has now been posted in the Subscriber Area>Downloads ... Just scroll right down to the bottom and you will see it.
You install the action in just the same way as you install Grant's tools (and other actions) but if you need help then just ask.
... and to use it simply crop your image to a square and then go to Effects>Wendy's Orb ... click on the orb thumbnail and apply. Thats all there is to it, its quick easy and a lot of fun.
Enjoy ... :)
Look forward to seeing your orbs
Wendy
I have also added a link to this in Wendy's Mini Tutorials (http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3641)
EDIT ... Take a look at message No 7 in this thread for something different to do with your orbs :) and for instructions on how to install it in Photoshop CS2 then take a look at message 33.

OK then ... so here is another twist on orbs.
I made a plain ordinary orb, quite nice but nothing special
Duplicated the layer
Used the elliptical marquee to make a circle the size of the orb
then did Select>Inverse
and Edit>Clear.
Next I flipped the duplicate over Image>Rotate>Flip Horizontal
and then ... I changed the blend mode to Screen  ... a whole new world of orbs
Experiment try other blend modes, flip vertical, try more layer ... just expriment and enjoy :)
Here is my orb before and after:

Hi Bob ...
It installs in the same way as Grant's tools basically you unzip the file ... inside you find a folder and a read me. You put the Folder in your Elements Folder C:Programs Files\Adobe\Elements (any version) ... Go to the folder marked Previews inside that is one marked Effects. It goes in there.
Then you delete the two lots of cache files (Effects & Filters), restart Elements and wait whilst the cache builds again.
It installs in the same way in all version of Elements so Grant's images should help :)

Do let us know how you go on :)

Wendy - Thank you for all your patient help. I have downloaded your orb action and it works so great. I used your suggestion to rotate and screen and I loved what that did with it! This is of two Rose of Sharon flowers. I credit Robin for the plate and her kind explanation of that technique, and of course Wendy, there are your fairies. My husband was amazed.
I however, know that it needs shadow behind the orb and where the shadow would fall on the plate, however I need to get off to my day job. I just wanted to get this up on the forum with a great big
Thank you!!!:D

That is just beautiful ... you really have done a great job on it :)
Now shadows are a whole new world .....
Take a look in Wendy's Mini Tutorials (http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3641) and you will find a couple of shadow tutorials. Casting Shadows is in the Subscriber area>Tutorials and Drop Shadow on its own layer is on the forum :)

That is magnificent! Nicely done!!!!! Just took a closer look...It is really beautiful...Is it very difficult to do, and what sort of picture do you use? Something with not too much going on I would guess......?????

Wendy, Colleen and Christine - Thank you so much. That is a picture of two lavender Rose of Sharon flowers. Yes, it was a simple picture. It was actually pretty easy with Wendy's Orb action, and her additions to that in this thread. The plate was so easy I was stunned - Robin describes it in another thread, but basically you stroke the orb and then transform>and I think I used skew. I could not have done it without everyone's sharing of their knowledge for sure.;)

Could you possibly point me to the thread where you explain how to do the Plate. I'm interested in how it is done. You know me, can't do anything without instructions.:D

Ok ...
Now I'm hooked too ...
This one has another twist ... its four duplicate orbs flipped all ways  with Robyn's plate orb and an orbed out background

Thanks also for the kaleidescope plug-in site. Correct me if I'm wrong....but I think the orb effect works best with a perfectly square photo.

Hi ...
I have had a couple of messages asking about an orb action for CS2 ... in fact this one works just fine in Photoshop. All you do is take the action out of the folder (leave the .psd behind) and install the action in Presets>Photoshop Actions :)

And it's a good one to learn how to make your own actions in CS2 and use them in Elements. Once you've done a couple it really is quite easy and very useful for automating some of the things I like to do often in Elements.

I just downloaded Wendy's Orb action and put it here
c:\program files\adobe\photoshop elements 6.0\plugins\effects
(I don't have a "preview" folder ???) I then renamed the mediadatabase to ...OLD and starting elements. However I can't find the Orb action in my effects pallets.
What am I doing wrong? I am using XP sp2
