Hi everyone,

A friend of mine is a music editor and received a cd with music scores that have been scanned at 600 ..bitmap..size is 6.92 x 10.07. She just purchased PSE4 to work on the scores but doesn't have internet service and has a problem changing the size. She needs them to be 8.5 x 11.5 to work on them in PSE4 and make them printable. I need helping iin resizing them and making them proportionly acceptable. Now they look like a very skinny score sheet.

Thanks
Vesta

Hi Vesta

Why not just try image> resize> Image size and type in the new size from there. Leave resample unchecked and see how it looks.
The only other thing to try would be to start with new blank document (white background layer) at the size you want, 8.5 x 11.5?? 600 dpi (like the original) and drag the original into the blank and just use the move tool to drag it out until it looks good. As long as you stay inside the new document all should be fine.:)

A couple of thoughts. If you keep them at 600 dpi those are going to be huge files to work on unless you work on them in grayscale which would cut the file size down a lot. Otherwise I'd be inclined to resize to 300 ppi.

The aspect ratio is closer to A4 than letter size although it might be hard to find A4 paper in the US. If you need to keep it in proportion I'd be inclined to work on it as is and just "fit to paper" when you print. You'll just finish up with a space at top and bottom.
