New question...
I completed a project last evening and the file was HUGE when I saved it as a psd with all the layers still open. My question is... if I merge all visiable layers and still save as a psd, can I un-merge them when re-opening to make a change to part of the project. If it is possible, can someone please explain how.

Hi ...
Afraid not :(
Once you merge layers and close the file then the layers are gone forever ...
To make your file smaller try discarding any unwanted layers :)

Wendy,
I was afraid you might say that. Oh well, back to the drawing board.
Thanks

msbrad,
I have Photoshop Elements 3.0, and my responses are based on that experience.
If I flatten all layers or merge certain layers, I can always use Undo before I Save and Close. But, after you Save and Close, I cannot Undo the flatten.
There is a interesting procedure that you might like. It leaves the existing layers intact and creates a layer with the composite of all the layers (a flattened version).
This is how you do that in 3.0. Create a new layer as the top layer. Then hold down Control, Shift, Alt keys and press e. I think that, if you are doing this in the 4.0 version, you do not have to create a new layer first. Just highlight the top layer and hold down Control, Shift, Alt keys and press e.
Hope that helps.

I really need to do something about my typing speed.
When I starting typing my last post, there were NO responses to Thread. Usually I am one behind. This time, WOW.
