View Full Version : How to edit an existing slideshow

This may appear silly, but I cannot discover how to edit an existing slideshow.

I can create a new slideshow, that opens the slideshow editor, and can save my slideshow.

If I then double-click on the slideshow from within Elements the slideshow opens in the player, which only gives me the options to close or display the player help.

Looking in the help implies that opening the editor is so simple that the process does need to be described.

Many thanks
Dom.

Hi, In PSE4, I go to FILE > OPEN CREATIONS, and open my existing slideshow projects that way.

Dom and Kay, check me out on this.....

I have Photoshop Elements 3.0, but I am "almost" certain that this is going to follow for 4.0 as well.

Organizer

I suspect that Dom was trying to edit a wmv saved version. File/Open Creations will not open a wmv version (blue tag), but it will open Creation version (yellow tag). Then, you can edit the Creation version as it existed before it was written to wmv. And, you then write again to wmv for this latest edit.

Further, if you try to edit a wmv version (whether saved in someplace like Documents/My Videos or the Organizer), you get what Dom described.

ATR- Yeah, you're right- I was thinking he hadn't made it into a .wmv file yet and couldn't find his file in the organizer. The ones in the organizer with the blue tags are the .wmv ones that you can't edit with PSE as far as I know. Because it takes so long to make the .wmv file, I rarely do that until I'm absolutely positive I'm done editiing (of course, I then find one small thing I want to change later). I should have just waited for you to answer- you've been helping everyone with all sorts of slideshow and PE questions!

ATR and Kay,

Thanks for such prompt replies. I will check out your suggestions, and will no doubt have more success.

Thanks
Dom.

Kay,

Thanks for the team work. These Adobe Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements challenges need a team effort to get us passed “Mylanta Moments” to Creativity.

Just a quick update.

I have had another look in my collection; and the answer was as described by ATR. My main problem was that unless I vew the collection by date I do not appear to be able to see the slide shows with the "Yellow" tags.

Once the files were displayed by date the files were visible, and I could select the files with the "Yellow" tags, and edit them, create the WMV and then write to DVD with Nero V.7

Thanks again for your help.
Dom.
