I was wondering how many pixels I should use when creating a new 8x10 blank file that I plan on printing out after I finish creating it and adding some pics to it. Any info would be greaty appreciated. I am going to try and create a montage of my sons baby pictures. Thank you

One more quetsion. I want to color the new balnk file and add texture to it, when I create it do I select background color, transparent, or white?

Hi Bob ...
If I want the background coloured I usually just colour from the File>New>Blank File menu. But if you forget and you end up with it white then set your foreground colour to the one you want and just do Edit>Fill Layer :)
Then you can add a texture using Filter>Texture>Texturiser ...

Thanks Wendy. Also, do you recomend starting with a larger blank file if I intend to print it out at 8X10 or should I stick with an 8X10 blank file?

Bob;
You might look at the images that you intend to put in the montage and
see the number of pixels per inch that they are and then match that in the
new blank file.. Tom :)

Thanks Tom, I will try that. It seems like an 8X10 file isn't giving me enough space to work with the photos I want. Any suggestions on how big of a blank file I should start with?

Hi Bob ...
If it doesn't look as if its going to be big enough then start out with an image double the size ... as long as the proportions are OK you can scale it down later :)

Thanks Wendy. I took a step backwards and I am editing the photos I want to use first before I continue making a new file and and coloring it, etc. I am going to start my new blank file over and try using a 20X16 and see how that works. Hopefully i will have a finished project by tomorrrow to post here.

Wow, I cant believe how many pictures I have of my son so far. The hardest thing about doing this montage is trying to pick out the pictures to use.
