Wife and I took our daughter up to the Minneapolis/St. Paul airport for her trip back to California to continue her college career. Stopped at the Apple Store at the Mall of America (which is a whole nother story) and ended up coming home with a brand spanking new macbook - 2 gig hertz intel duo processor, 80 gig hard drive, cd/dvd rw (superdrive) and poorer. Lucky wife is a teacher - got at least a little discount w/ that plus free ipod (nano) and printers.
Now it's training time - first time using a laptop - almost like learning to train kids :)
Anyway - just couldn't resist posting.
yea Ray - your comments to me about yours helped move us.

Congratulations on your purchase. Hope you love yours as much as I love mine. I am sitting here with hubby watching a film, reading posts - so much better than sitting in a room on my own.

Enjoy playing with all you new toys

Bruce, somehow, I had figured this one coming :D :D

Congratulations!!

Just showed my Macbook to a couple of co-workers this week (I had a project which involved a proof of concept with Quicktime encoding). Anyway, moment they Windows, they were like... jaws on the floor.. they are both going to seriously look into this new computer, especially since with Windows booting, it eases the switchers fears :)

Ray - while we were at the apple store after the purchase - I thought it best to download all the updates right there w/ their wirelesss (I still have phone connection). Served two purposes - made sure it worked right and got the downloads in a minimum of time. Anyway - within 45 minutes we watched 5 more macbooks being purchased. Thems gota be one hot item.

As for a name Wendy - still not sure....the wife has naming rights. Right now its "little one" but I'm sure something better will come up.

I also used their Wi-Fi access while in Toronto. I had took pictures and wanted to send them to my friends. While enjoying a Starbuck coffee, because the Wi-Fi at Apple Stores extend much beyond the front door :)

I was at Future Shop today and saw a guy leaving the store with an iMac (20 inches, what else! lol!) And a some students bargaining a Macbook with Office for Mac (they tried to get it for free.. I think they ended up with a discount on a carrying bag and locking cable, or something like).

It was joy-joy in Mac land today :)

Congrats. I sure do miss my my iBook. Windows laptop is working great but.... there is nothing like a MAC. The Macbooks are great computers.

Congratulations. You can't go wrong with a Mac :)

Wendy, hang on to your cash. Intel are likely to introduce a quad-core processor in January. Mac Pro with 2 of those, bliss!

Congratulations Bruce!! I'm sure you'll both enjoy your new purchase :D :D

Just out of curiosity.....how long does a macbook go on the battery. My laptop (PC) only goes for about 2.5 hours and I know with the next one I get I will definitely want something that goes for longer than that. That and....

.....I just love the look of a macbook ;)

Between 3 and 4 hours, depending on usage. By usage I mean if I compile a software, this will require lots of CPU power and hard drive. If I watch a DVD, this will also consumes more energy. However, if I write a document, or surf the web, I'll get the best battery times.

Not sure on time yet. I was at a medical clinic waiting for my wife to get some tests completed. I was using PSE and going thru a CD with lots of pics from another family member from Yosemite National Park. I did miss my wacom tablet - not used to using the tracpad all that much. Anyway after close to two hours (with people sitting next to me asking about the computer and also Yosemite) there was still 63% of batter power left. Like Ray said - it's all dependent on what you are running on it.
