When I am in Bridge the default is Paint (something) when I double click on an image. I tried to navigate through the menus to choose a different program, but the only choices are paint and PSE4?

Is there a way to turn on CS2 as a choice for my bridge?

Thanks
Brent

Hi Brent,

You need to change the file association of your images ..

One way you can do this is to right click on any picture on your hard drive and select "Open With". Then select the Choose Program option from the menu. Select the program you want to open the picture from the list and also check the "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" box.

You have to do this for file types (e.g. jpegs).

I'll give it a shot. I did not get the help files for some reason, so I am following the link on how to get help files right now.

Thanks for the tip. I appreciate it.

Do you think it is ok to asked questions about CS2 on this web site? I hate to be incorrect by asking. Just love this site, still do lots of elements stuff....so don't want to leave.

Thanks again,

Brent

hi Brent ...

You are using a Windows computer are you ??

Most people make sure that if they want to ask Photoshop questions then they put Photoshop or CS2 in the title ... that way it doesn't confuse people :)

I tried to OPEN with (right click and also using the menu bar) and it gives me choices of pse4, paint 5.1 and thumbs 6 (a small program I used to use).

for some reason it doesn't see that I have cs2.

Hmmm...gonna have to look more.

I got looking around the program files and noticed that Bridge was not in the cs2 folder, but in another spot. Must have been an installation error. I reinstalled the program and all is well!

thanks

I've noticed that sometimes the option you want isn't always available when you right click but if you go into Windows Explorer and look in Tools>Folder Options>File Types you can find the file types you want to open, and select the program you want to open them with (and check the box to always open with that program). If you click on advanced you can change the program used for right click menus like Edit, Preview etc. My screen looks like this:

353

BTW I use Windows Picture and Fax Viewer as the default as I like it for quickly browsing jpeg images and you can set it so it will use the editor of your choice when you Ctrl-E.

Oh good - I see you got it sorted while I was posting. BTW I had trouble installing help files and with getting the updates with my recent CS2 installation but the Adobe Tech Support were very helpful (and don't charge if it's an installation problem)
