After almost a week of reading the threads on this forum, I am ready to get started. Every time I open up a thread and see the new work you all have done, I just keep saying I want to do that.
So with that said, I look forward to being a part here.
Kimi_Boo, where in La. are you? I'm originally from Ville Platte. I've been in NY now for over 20 years but never never forget about home. Jambalya crawfish and Gumbo.

I've just finished the Layers class. It's the first course i've taken. And probably one of the most important. Since i've only been use to Auto fixing photo's in other programs I didn't understand what all could be done to a photo. It's the difference from hoping a pictures looks good and one that has the professional look. You will learn lots.
BTW I lived inLaff. La.for years. Miss the people ,the fishing and the crawfish for sure.

Now how the heck does a Cajun from Ville Platte end up in New York??? I am in Lafayette. And I'm here to tell you.... Jambalya, Crawfish and Gumbo are still the best!! Yesterday we had Bar-B-Q crabs. :D

Kimi not to get away from the subject, but this past weekend I boiled 2 bushels of crabs and 30 lbs. of shrimp. Had some crab boil from home. Also, we have a resturant up near us, that has all-u-can-eat boiled crawfish on Tuesday nights...don't have to tell you where I am on Tuesday's.
I do miss home...and also I have some pics from when I first took my wife and her family to Ville Platte....eating crawfish cajun style..
WEll enough running at the mouth..this is an awesome site and all of you here have so inspired me to go forward with some of the lessons..and I just subscribed as well..On My Way Being Addicted....

Kimi, your making me hungry. The only gumbo I get here is either what I make or Californized (Cajun....) food. the crabs have no taste and the shrimp cost so much you have to get a bank loan for rubbery shrimp... I agree with you PSE family iswarm and very addictive. But most of all Very creative .

Just finished the class yesterday,,,,It's GREAT. I learned much more than I have just by watching Videos. All of a sudden I started understanding Why layers work. I'm on the second course now. I'm taking the workflow by Scott K. You'll like it.

Is there any difference between merging and flattening layers? They seem to accomplish the same thing.

Hi ...
There is some difference ...
Flattening an image ... flattens all the layers and makes them into a background layer but Merge is a bit more flexible. Merge has different options depending on how many and what sort of layers you have in your image.
You can get:
Merge down ... that just merges the layer you are on and the layer below it.
Merge linked ... merges all the linked layers together and leaves the others intact.
Merge Visible ... that one leaves any layer intact if their eyeball is switched off
Hope this helps :)
