automation tools greyed out on PSE 4.0

I just installed PSE 4.0 and decided to try out the photomerge feature. To get to it, one must use the FILE menu then select AUTOMATION TOOLS. Well, AUTOMATION TOOLS is greyed out so I can't get to photomerge. Is there some installation step I missed to get photomerge activated?

Try file>new>photomerge panorama

To create a panorama you need to be in Standard Edit (top of the screen on the right hand side, click on Standard Edit) and then you do File>New>Photomerge ..

Thanks, y'all, for the warm welcome :) and quick answers. Now that I understand how to create a panoramic image, what do I do with it once it's done? The image dimensions are so awkwardly different than all the other images.

OK, the photomerge went fairly well. Now that it is complete, of course I want to tweak it. Can I get back to the panoramic mode to move the individual images around again? Or do I have to do it over again.
