Hey,

I saw in the Sunday ads that CompUSA was offering the Graphire4 with a $30 rebate - takes the price down to $70. The offer is only good if you buy the tablet this week.

Trish, you bet me to the punch. Best Buy also has it on sale for the $69.99 without having to mail in a rebate. I was holding out for the 6x8 but I think I will settle for the 4x5 at these prices. I have been searching everyones ads right now and the 4x5 is all I have seen on sale so far. If I find the 6x8 I will post it here so everyone knows. But not many more to search so looks like the 4x5 at $70 (US) is gonna be it for me.

Thanks for posting the CompUSA though because I hadn't searched it yet.

Oh cool! I will be picking one up this week! Now I just have to decide if I should wait to open it 'til my birthday in November, since I was supposed to get it then. :)

SeeBee, mine will be an early November birthday present to myself too. There is no way I am waiting til Novemebr to use it. If you do, you are a much more patient person than me. Good luck with that one. lol:) ;)

I have to say, after about 1 hour of playing with it, I really like it. It does take a ittle getting used to for doing "mouse" functions, but for drawing (coloring) and such, it is much more natural. Selecting may take some getting used to. I tried the polygonal lasso tool with it, and it wasn't as precise as I would have liked, but I think it will get ther.

I'm not really that patient! :D The most I have ever waited for a birthday present that was bought early was 1 month. I have a funny feeling this won't make it through the night without coming out of the box. ;)

Well, looks like I'm not running to the store after all. I just won an ebay auction for a brand Graphire 4 6x8 Bluetooth. Now I have to wait til it arrives:( . I got 3 day delivery though so I should have it by the end of the week. Oh well, I got an excellent price on it. I love ebay.

Thanks Wendy, now I have to steal my bluetooth adapter back from my husband. He'll get over it. He hardly uses his Palm Pilot except for the GPS and it doesn't need the adapter.:) :)

That's still good news, Kim! :) It's fun to get mail like that!

I'm sending dh over to Best Buy tonight to pick one up for me. He doesn't know it yet, but he's going. :D

I saw the ad too - and was wondering if that was the best Wacom tablet to get or if there was something else would be better suited - especially for scrapbooking applications. (My birthday in a month....:) )

The Wacom Graphire 4 4x5 seems to be a very popular model and is the least expensive. The next poplular is the Graphire 4 6x8. The Intuos is much more expensive and they say that it is geared more towards professionals. Wacom's site has a questionare that lets you tell them what you want to use it for and then it will tell you which one is best suited for you. Scrapbooking does fall under the Graphire model. As far as whether to get the 4x5 or 6x8 is really up to you as to how much work area you need. Most people I have talked to say that the 4x5 is all they need.

I noticed on the home page of this site last night that in the top banner there was an ad for the Wacom with a 30 trial but I didn't check out the details for it.

Hope this was helpful.

I just checked the home page and the banner has changed so I went to Wacon's site. Under their store tab it has a link for returns. They offer a 30 day "no questions asked" return policy. You have to contact them and they will send you a form to return it for a full refund.

FYI, there is also a link on the store front to purchase discounted refurbished models. Here is the link to the store.

Wendy, all this research I've done and info I'm passing on is making the anticipation of getting mine worse. I feel like a kid waiting for Santa to bring me just what I wanted,:D .

I don't really want to make Kim's anticipation worse ;) , but I did open mine up and worked with it a bit this morning before my kids woke up. So far, so good! I am going from using my laptop's trackpad to the 4 x 5 sized surface, and that size is plenty for me now. It actually seems too big since I'm used to less! :D

Chris, how could you do this to me?;) I use a laptop too, If the 4x5 is awkward I will probably go nuts with the 6x8. Hopefully since I use to draw alot I will be able to get the hang of it pretty quick.

Thanks for the info Kim!

I noticed that it came bundled with PSE3 - not sure what I need another copy of that for. Maybe if I ever get a lap top I can install it there.

Jane I was wondering what I was going to do with the extra copy too until tonight. My neighbor does scrapbooking but not digitally. I was talking to her and telling her about the pages everyone has on here and I am going to give it to her to thank her for all the times she dog sits for me.

I will Wendy. I might save the money instead and finally subscribe here. I have been really practicing with the mouse using the lasso tool like you told me to and am getting better with it, so maybe I will stick with that. Bye the way, your tip on using the lasso has made my life easier so far, I rarely use the majic selection brush anymore.

That is probably what I will do. I really want to learn new techniques. I find myself staying up so late because I get stuck playing around with photos and trying new things.
