Elements slidshow Freezes up!

Can anyone help?
When I go into the slideshow program...Elements freezes up!
I get as far as selcting the slide specifications and can never get past...the entire program fesszes up and i have to escape out of the program.

Could you give us a little more information about your system ... like your operating system, which version of Elements and have you just installed Elements or has it been working OK before now ... hopefully we may then hav a better idea of how to help you ... :)

My Photoshop elements 4.0 Freezes up on the slide show portion of the program:
In May I downloaded Elements 4.0 free 30 day trial for a gradute class that I was taking. I learned the basics of elements and so enjoyed the slideshow!
Slideshow was working perfectly, no problems. I like elements 4.0 so much I decided to purchase the program...I didn't want to interrupt what I had, so I purchased it on line. Eversince i purchased the elements 4.0 on line the slideshow function never worked again! I contacted tech support with no fix in sight.......So I ran to the Office Depot on the corner and purchased Photoshop Elements 4.0. uninstalled the download...and the same thing has happened......
I select the slideshow, get to the part of selecting the slide show specifics, seconds etc...and click and it freezes!
I run on an HP media center pentium 4. Windows XP service pack2 and all the constant updates.....I hope someone has a way to fix this for me...I bought the program specifically for the slideshow function!

If the problem persists after going thru the suggestions, please post back and we can contemplate a Plan B. I have assumed that you have gone through the drill of defragmentation, shutting down programs running in the background, etc.

At the present time, is Photoshop Elements 4.0 the only problem on your computer system?
