Hi folks.
I am new to the forum but have been reading the posts with much interest. I have been saving tid bits I have come across that I know will be helpful downlline.
I am currently doing the layers course and am having a blast! I have no idea when I will use any of these tricks but that is besides the point. I am new to digital photography, heck i am new to photography, and am just playing and experimenting with mundane scenes at the moment.
I am following along the course without problems except for one area and these are my questions:
1. in lesson 1 we are shown how to turn one photo into a layer on top of a background photo. In the video, both photos start the same size and remain that way once layered. When I try it, the photo that is layered onto the first is a fraction of its size and is sitting on top of the background photo. There is a copy of "layer 1" on the workspace that I then have to delete. Anyone know what I am talking about (not sure if I articulated this right). Anyone know how to do it in one clean step as in the video?
2. how would I add a third image to the layer stack?
Cheers,
Krys

No, I am not sure what you are talking about. :) But maybe some of this will help.

Hold down the control key and drag your photo into the image that you want it to be in. It will come in and make it's own layer. If you have an image that you want to resize. Hit Control T. Hold down the shift key while you move the corners to keep the dimensions correct. If you want to see all of the resize square hit Control 0 (zero)

And WELCOME. :D

Krys, if I am understanding your question, you want to duplicate your original photo with a second layer of it. Just select the photo layer and click CTRL J. Hope this helps you. It should be the identical size.

Hi Krys

Welcome to the forums.:)

My guess for the size issue would be that the two photos are different resolutions. Left click the title bar of each photo before layering them and check Image Size.

If I remeber correctly (and I may not :D) the dragged photo takes on the resolution of the dragged to photo.

I didn't quite understand what you meant by having the exta layer though.

Hope part of this helps :)

Hi Krys ..

... and welcome to the forum :)

I think, as Gary says, the diufference you are seeing is dues to the different sizes and resolution of your two images. You can simply resize the one you added by using the move too. Click in the corner and drag out ... :)

By adding a third layer to the stack ... do you mean another photo?. If so you just do it in the same way as you added the first one :)

Hello Krys,

Welcome to the forum. You will be surprised just how often you will use the things you learn in the layers course.

Thanks for the responses. It takes me a while to figure things out but once I "see" it it's there for good. I have been sitting at my computer for hours today (day off) just playing and have learned SO MUCH and am actually having fun :)
One more question. I have seen another thread where someone by the name of Kevin is taking a time out and has removed tutorials from the site. Are these the tutorials that the web site advertises or were these tutorials that he shared in the forum?

Hi- THese were tutorials that Kev created himself. The ones on the site are there and grow every week.
