Well I just tried out both Videos. The painted effect is excellent and a nice transparent copyright sign to add to it ... here is the result.
A painted images with a transparent copyright ... !! :)

EDIT ... The moire pattern isn't really on the image its just the thumbnail that makes it look like that !!

No boat handy so I had to make do with a log cabin. That's a very nice and simple method especially for someone who can't paint :) . Hmm like Wendy says the thumbnail is a bit moireish.

Very nice Wendy. I got to admit that you are fast with the tuts, the ink is
hardly dry and you've already done it.. :D :D Tom

Wendy- love that boat but I just had to try another building - the local photo shop where I get all my supplies & printing done. Built in 1886 in the Queen Anne Revival style for anyone architecturally inclined.

I haven't figured out where the videos are yet, but got side tracked with the Images by Nancy (?). I have occasion to look at a LOT of wildlife pictures for reference for my husband's wood carving (and then I get to paint them) and I have yet to see a lovelier picture of an eagle or waterbird than those. Thank you for sharing. I have sent them on to several people who could stand a lift in their day. ebsnapper

Here's my attempt at the tutorial. I found, working on a large res photo, I had to up the settings on the effects quite a bit to make them show up.

Thanks Karen, Wendy and Nancy :) It was kind of a fun one to try. I think it might look nice on a sunset/water picture. I'll have to look for one.

Now thats a thought ... I bet that a sunset on water would look great with this effect :)

I'm having a hard time getting the settings right still, but I stole your idea of a sun on a water, and here's my attempt:

Well, I tried with a sunset-on-water photo, and didn't really like how it turned out. But here's a reflecting pond that I think goes well with this effect. I modified the texturizing instructions somewhat -- for one thing, I used Filter>Brush Strokes>Crosshatch.

Hi Ebsnapper ...

Thank you Wendy - I found them, but at the same time I found ALL the other great things I had not found before. I have been a subscriber to Elements since the first copy, but for some reason had never followed up on the web benefits. I have had enough other things to deal with, but so many intriguing things are a real bonus. I wish I had found this wonderful world when I was younger, but even now at nearly 80, it is a great gift. It gives me a lot of pleasure. Thanks again. ebsnapper

Hi Ebsnapper ..
Now that you have found all those Video and written tutorials you will no doubt be trying out lots of them.
So why not start a gallery and let us see some of the ones you do .. :)

Do hope that you found my tutorials in the Tutorials section ... I made a list of them for quick reference.

Wendy - Oh my - more things to try (just as soon as there are more hours in the day - or excuses to use some of the existing ones.) I'll bet you would be the one to ask about making stationery out of my own design. I have the design in Elements 4, and a half a dozen other places, but can't seem to get it in Stationery on Outlook Express. I know you have a MAC and mine is a PC but thought maybe you could steer me in the right direction. I succeeded one time and now I can't find the path I used. Frustrating. ebsnapper

All the pics look so great, just had to try Dave's paint effects myself. Maybe I didn't put enough texture?

This is the rotunda in our local City Park. It is disappointing how it has lost of a lot of its definition/texture in the resizing and uploading. But anyway this is my first try..........

I mean to try again because to me this is not a satisfying result.

The full Pixentral version looks a bit better than the thumbnail I think............... I went heavy on the texture to try and get it to show up. This is part of Entally House, a National Trust property just out of Launceston. It was originally owned and built by early settlers.

Robyn: that's a great one - the heavier texture really works well. I tried some flowers and didn't like the result but your ones in the foreground look just right - I'll have to try again.
I did a double take when I saw National Trust and Launceston - I have some pics of a National Trust property in Launceston but it's the other side of the world from you :)

Hi Robyn ...
Both of those look so good ... you have done great with the effect :)
One of the problems with applying a texture is that resizing does tend to change the way it looks :)

Wendy and Tony, great pictures. I personally think that the moireish look in them makes them look more like they were actually painted on a canvas. Just my opinion though.
