Here's a way to make a ripple effect using PSE from scratch...

1. Open a New Document: File > New > Blank File (or ctrl+N)

2. Set-up Your Image:
• Under name type: Ripple
• Under preset select 1024x768 (or your own)
• Under color mode select: RGB
• Under Background select: Transparent
• Click OK


3. Hit the letter “D” on your keyboard to make sure you have your default colors
(Black and White) selected.

4. Go to Filters > Render > Clouds

5. Go to Filters > Blur > Radial Blur

6. Set the following Settings:

Amount: 38
Blur Method: Spin
Quality: Good

7. Go to Filters > Sketch > Bas Relief

8. Use the following Settings:
Detail: 13
Smoothness: 3
Light: Bottom

9. Go to Filters > Sketch > Chrome:


10. Use the following setting:
Detail: 4
Smoothness 7

11. Hit ctrl + U (windows) or Apple key + U (Mac) to bring up the Hue/
Saturation Window. Click Colorize and use the following Settings:

Click Colorize in the lower right corner
Hue: 223
Saturation: 24
Brightness: -4

12. Voila. You’re Done.

Happy you can use it. Believe it or not, I don't really use Photoshop to do scrapbooking or edit my family photos. I have my own business training people to make worship graphics for use in their churches. This tutorial is one I use to show people how to use filters. We then add some text like "Living Water" and put it in the lower right corner.

Oh, Phil, thank you SOOO much!! I will try it out asap.

Btw, I tried your watercolor effect tut yesterday and am so pleased with my new photo. I appreciate your help very much. I am new here (just finished Matt's great layer course) but everyone seems so helpful.:)
