J-cut and L-cut?

This is the reference that I mentioned for the Razor Tool that works well with the L and J cuts.

If you look closely, at the end of the step by step is a place to click "here". That brings up a demo of the technique. There is a click "here" for both the Razor Tool and the L and J cuts.
