Wendy and Kev,

Thank you. It was interesting experimenting with gradients to get the desired effect.

I like it! Gradients are good starting points for backgrounds!

Karen,

This is very cool. The frame is nice but I am primarily interested in how you made the "sketch effect". Can you share that info please? Making images that look like sketches and oil paintings is one of the things I am trying to learn...when time permits.

Thanks.

FWIW, if you Google Caryl Ritter and visit her web site you can see some of her work. She takes a digital image and, in Corel Painter, makes it look like an oil panting. It's very neat.

Hector,

I think I used Kev's tutorial at: http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11969&highlight=sketch+tutorial

I think there is also a tutorial in the subscriber's area on sketching.

Karen-the frame is really striking and the sketch effect looks great. What is that coming up from the ground? i really enjoy seeing the plants from your part of the world.

Ellen,

It has several common names (Blood Orchid/Elephant's Ears) and it is a native of South Africa.
