Okay, my first question since joining the forum. I am working with a couple pictures and I want to make it so I can see the background layer through the top layer I just added, I guess I want to make the new layer transparent. I just can't seem to figure this out. Thanks gor any help.

Hi Bob ...
All you need to do is Layer>New>Layer and that will put a new transparent layer above your image. Go to your layers palette and you will see the new layer you have just created ... :)
What are you trying to put on your transparent layer ??

Hi Wendy. I have a picture of the Oceanside harbor and I want to put a picture of my son, wife, and me on the water but I want to be able to see through our picture and see the water behind us. I guess I should say I want to make use somewhat transparent. I know how to put the picture of us on the the other one, but just can't seem to figure out how to make us semi transparent. Thanks for any help

Hi Bob ...
Go to the layers palette click on the layer with you all on it and then look at the top of the layers palette. You will see a box that says opacity ... change the slider until you get the right see through effect :)
Look forward to seeing your image ...

Thank you so much Wendy. I am going to work on it some more tomorrow after I get back from the Dentist. I am having a tooth surgicly removed due to a cracked root (ouch). I should have alot of time on my hands tomorrow. I look forward to asking many more questions here. You are always so quick to reply and very nice, other forums I have been to are not so pleasent. Thank you.

I can never understand why other forums are so unpleasant ... it almost seems as though they don't want people to stick around :( :(
