Well, I finished my 1st layers lesson and can't believe how much I've learned just on the 1st one. I took some of my own pics and used them to apply what I learned and placed in in my gallery. Any suggestions for improvement are welcome! I think I could have played with the perspective on the top layers but that wasn't my lesson so I blew it off.

What was that someone said about addiction to PSE? Yep. Anyone know where there are 12step meetings when I need intervention?

Night everyone,

Nice work, Peggy! And don't even TRY to conquor this addiction. No one else has been able to :D And if they did, they'd wish they hadn't.

Great image Peggy. Good thing my husband likes cooking because he gets home from work and finds me sitting here and - well he often says - you keep going - I'll make dinner!!!

Very nice work Peggy! I am new here so hopefully I will soon learn to make really nice creations like that. I might have to take the layers course so I can learn some cool things.

Hi Peggy ...

Oh you have done so well with that ... do keep on posting images as you do them.

Layers are the key to unlocking the power of Elements ...

Peggy,
well done.
I agree with Wendy but would add that learning to use layer masks puts the icing on the cake.

I think you guys are right on about the fundamental need to understand and work with layers in PSE and I couldn't have learned the simplest technique that I did last night if not for the 1st day class and the support you offered here. Looking forward to todays class that's for sure.

I couldn't get to sleep last night with ideas dancing in my head. Particularly what I would do with a Pink Flamingo!!!! oi vei, it has begun, obsessions of the mind.

Nita, I used a picture of a fairy I have on my small fountain in my back yard for that pic, you're welcome to it if you would like to see if it will work for you.

Peggy - I know exactly what you mean about being addicted to PSE! Everytime I join the forum, I feel like I should start with, "Hello, my name is Kim, and I'm am obsessive PSE user! :) The more you learn, the more you want to learn! You gallery is great. I really liked the first one. I, too, am a new user but haven't learned enough to create a gallery, yet, so congratulations! And keep practicing and experimenting!

The day 21 bonus is the bomb!

Is it top secret? Did you have to swear an oath that you wouldn't share it with us? Cause I'd really like to know! Naw, kidding aside thanks for the heads up, I'll look forward to it!

I finished Day 21 of the Layers Tutorial yesterday and I really feel like I understand PSE so much better now (with lots more to learn!) I am curious about the comments I've seen on various forums regarding the "bonus tutorial." Dee Dee said, "It was the bomb," and Wendy said it was really sweet. Though the last day's tutorial was great, it wasn't particularly a bonus or much different then the rest of the course. Did I miss something?

Post Script: As usual, I ask a question and THEN do a search of the forum and find the answer to my question. Duh! I now realize I just needed to look a little further down the page to find the bonuses. I stand before you wearing my dunce cap.

Hey Gigi - welcome to the forum. I just looked at your gallery. You are really doing well. I know what you mean. I cannot go past our den without checking mail and the galleries for inspiration. I find myself sitting here on sunny afternoons and if I had not gone to the gym in the morning and done a 30 minute walk home I would feel really guilty. Speaking of that I must go as I am being picked up to go to the gym soon - but I'll be BACK!

Nice work,

Hi, Karen:

Yes, I found the other bonuses, as well. I had only to open my eyes! Thanks for the help -

I totally forgot about the bonuses, need to go back and check!

Thanks Montrealf I took that at the Houston zoo...it's a long story but thanks to the folks here I was able to save the photos from a "glitch" in my camera SD card.

MSBrad I bet you miss your Yorkie and I'm sorry for your loss. Deva is our baby (4yrs) and we are totally attached to her in ridiculous ways!

On Day 7 Matt refers to the box that is created by clicking on the shape as a..."bounding box". Did I spell this correctly?

I'm transcribing my notes and reviewing the course before my time runs out. You can't do enough of this, folks. At first it was fun to run quickly through the daily courses and get "hands on" but to retain and extend the knowledge go back to the material. You'll be surprised about what you've missed!

There are a lot of terms that are new to first time Elements users. I wish there were a glossary. I've ordered all the back issues of Elements Techniques. Maybe that will help.

If only Matt was more coherent... ( Just kidding! )

Wendy

Hi John ...

Yes it is a bounding box :)

... if you type words into the help facility it often will give you more information. Its not as good a glossery but it helps a little :)

I thought there was a PDF outline that you could down load of the lessons - granted I didn't do that yet, but I was planning too. (Or maybe I was just seeing things.) More stuff to add to my "Elements Notebook".

I' so glad to hear everyone's just loving the layers class. I still have problems with it (that's why I don't have any neat stuff in my gallery!). I signed up and start tonight. Can't wait to finally get this all straight in my head!

Peg, love your little Yorkie! Our Jodie is going to be 7 in a few weeks and she's just a little pistol!
