Hi,

I've decided to take the online Layers class and I'm embarrassed to say that out of the gate I'm having some difficulty. First the zip files and where to unzip them to. I've tried zipping them to my documents and opening the photos to PSE from there, no problem. But then after opening the first one we are to drop the second one over it and slide the two side by side. nothing like what he does happens for me, it opens the pic individually and it's locked, indomitably unmoveable.
I did open each photo individually, shows them on the bottom bin in one window but looks like a window is open for each photo. How do I get them all in the same window from my docs? I confess that I'm not sure I unziped them correctly or to the right area, zip files aren't something I know a lot about.

thanks guys, I know I'll get the help I need, just hope I explained my problem correctly.

Peggy,

Don't worry, loads of people have trouble with this.

Either go to Window>Images>Cascade (or Tile)
or look at the top right next to the box that says 'type a question for help' - there should be a little icon which depicts four tiny squares. If you move your mouse over it you'll see it says 'automatically tile windows' - click on it and it will do just that.

Once all your pictures are in the workspace you'll be able to move them around/drag them with the move tool.

Hi Peggy

I haven't done that course yet so I am just speaking in general terms.

If you can see them in the photo bin then they are unzipped ok and you are half way there.

One way to get all the pictures into one is to cascade them or tile them. One of the icons beside the little help box in the upper right.
That way all 3 pictures have some visisbility in the editor. From there you should be able to drag from the layers pallet onto the base one.

Hope this helps. :)

:D You all beat me. I looked deeper into a thread and found two peeps there that had the same problem followed by the solutions. I went back to PSE and BAM, problem solved. Thanks!

Thanks guys and gals. I throughly enjoyed the lesson, learned more from it than the book I've been using for two months! Got my practice pic in my gallery and I was brave enough to use my own photos at that. Critiquing and suggestions are welcome.

Peggy,

That is beautiful. The layers course gets better as you go along. I learnt so much from doing the course. Keep up the good work and look forward to seeing more of your work.
