Questions about Text

I'm trying to do the backscreening technique on my image. I've created the text layer. I chose the Text Tool, then set my options, size, font, color and centered. When I put my cursor on the image and start typing, my text does not go to the center. Hitting Enter to move to the second line, text still not centered, same with the third line.

What am I doing wrong?:o

Hi Mary ...

Select the text tool ... then look at the top of the screen. You will see three icons in the centre that look like lines of text on a page. Hover your cursor over them and the middle ones says Centre Text. Click on that before you start typing.

For the text you have already done double click on the text layer in the layers palatte to highlight the text and then click on the middle icon :)

It's just not working the way I think it should.
I tried double clicking to highlight the text layer, and then selecting the option in the options bar, it's not reacting like it should. The text does not center itself automatically......Let me try to post an example.

Well.....pixentral seems to be down for the moment. I'll have to try again later.

Try creating a new layer and see if it works this time :)

Yes, this stuff still amazes me. I think I'm doing it just right and still I don't get the right end result. Followed your instruction, created a new layer and it worked perfectly.......Thank you.:)
